Moving while fostering? AWFUL AGENCY VENT!!
Hi Sweet ladies,
We have a question.. We are in Orange County. We were switching to county after a VERY long wait with ____ agency. OVER A YEAR later and STILL no fingerprints back from them! I tell everyone that asks me about them about my experience. PM me if you want to know which one. Now stories of other bad experiences are coming out of the woodwork. Anyhoo, we were switching to county and were all set to take the classes when my hubby started looking to buy a home on land probably in Riverside. We may wait a while as it needs to be at least 1/2 acre or an acre and it needs 5-6 BEDROOMS and has to be in our price range. We may move in 6 months we may move in a year or two. What happens if you are foster to adopting a sibling set say in OC then move to a nearby county no more than 30 minutes away. Do they remove the children from you anyway? I know they have different rules/standards/requirements. Should we just wait and see when we will move? Thanks, Mama w4 Last edited by alidaw4 : 03-27-2009 at 09:16 AM. |

it will just depend on the case and the worker. by that time if you are a preadoptive home, it is probably not that big of a deal, if they are still foster only, then it is probably situational. (of course...if they did allow you to takae the kids bc you were adopting, you would have to pass a new home inspection.) plus, in order to take in new kids, you'd have to get re-licensed in riverside county once you got there.
if you think you may move to riverside from oc, why not sign with an agency that is in both places? (pm me and we can exchange agency names.) that is how we got started, and we ended up with oc kids in riverside. it worked because they had no visitation schedule.....otherwise with traffic, oc from riverside is an HOUR each way if not more....which is just too far if you have to take them back often. my best suggestions would be either to a)wait, or b) choose a private agency that works in both counties. ![]() |

I'd dump them - I saw them put several families thru the fingerprint game while we were with "x" agency. Our experience with them was very, very bad! Read my posts!

I was told that moving to another county can be as hard as moving across the U.S. When I asked about it is was NOT a neighboring county. This may make a slight difference. I would just ask your worker up front about it. Moving in and of itself is not hard. As the PP mentioned, if it is an adoptive placement (TPR taken place) it is much easier to move with your foster children.
