How many of you e-mail your SWs or CWs?

I live in Los Angeles County. My SW won't let me have her email. She says she can't give it out because "she is a state employee." Well, I am a state employee as a school teacher and every student and parent has my email.

I want her email because she is partly deaf and cannot talk on the phone well. When I fax her something, she "never gets it." She calls me back at my house when I have consistently asked her to call me on my cell phone because I work. She still calls my house phone. As a teacher, it is hard for me to talk on the phone because I am teaching and there are 40 kids in my classes from 8:00-3:30 pm.

I'm just curious - can you let me know if you email your social workers/case workers? If so, can you say what city or state your worker is in (if that's all right with you?) I'm just curious to give her some feedback.

I use e-mails with all my social workers. That includes FFA, county and state level.

Not me and it's annoying. The cw for my 2 youngest gave me her card but there was no email address.

the SWs that we will be working with (they are the ones teaching the classes and will be our SWs)

tell us to e-mail them for a quicker reply....they say using the phone is fine but they prefer e-mail because there is a paper trail for both parties.

Riverside County....and I'm a speech therapist in the schools so I have the same situation you do as well.

I email our CW all the time. It is much more efficient for both of us.

Not sure about your state - but here (Mass) the emails a re pretty easy to figure out: firstname.lastname@state.ma.us

Contact her supervisor and tell her that you have been having communication issues. You deserve better.

Good luck.

Thank you for your support

Thanks so much!

Does anyone here in Los Angeles communicate with their social workers via email? If so, could you please let me know?

Hi - I'm just bumping this up because I'm interested in knowing if anyone from LA communicates via email with their social workers. Thanks!

I have the SW cell, phone and email. He answers his email and cell and rarely returns office calls.

I once asked for his email b/c I needed to send him info. Then later, I asked permission to communicate that way, and he said it's fine.

I got the cell after we got a placement. He wanted me to be able to get a hold of if ASAP if there were probs. I don't abuse the cell phone. I rarely call it. I email more.

I email and just emailed my oldest daughter's adoption worker and she gets back to me in a very timely manner. Now Rowan's CW would not give me her email address. I asked a supervisor why the CW wouldn't give me her email address and she told me that unfortunately not all CWs use email on a regular basis. The use of email wasn't required by DCF. I think it's a nice way to avoid a papertrail.

I also had the email addresses of Rowan's lawyer and the lawyer's investigative. This was our main way to communicate.

The CW also liked to call my home number during the middle of the day, as if she always forgot I had a job....UGH!

I'm in LA County. Could you just email her and see if she responsds? That's how I first got in contact with my daughters' lawyers. I can't imagine the CW's email address can be different from the adoption worker's email address.

I have my sw's email, cell and office number. We communicate by all 3 methods.

If it is this hard to talk with your sw, have you considered talking to the supervisor, or asking for another sw? I would consider it.
