I have been searching this website everyday and came across a child I want to look into adopting. Just wondering if anyone has used them and what they think. Thanks in Advance

I use it. My agency recommended that we periodically look at that site. But now that I am ready for a placement, my SW said she thinks chances are VERY VERY slim that we'd ever be successful with that site. I found one child I was interested in and she said the child's social worker would not return any of her calls. She said that's normal. If you don't hear back, it means they are not available. ugh.

Also, she said that most the children on that site have major issues that are somewhat covered up in the descriptions.

thanks for your reply.I have talked to a SW but it seems strange. And I have noticed a lot of the children have lots of issue's.

There are two versions of cakidsconnection. If you are accessing it from home, you're looking at the public site. Fewer kids are there and they do usually have more special needs, higher levels of behavior, and/or multiple siblings. That is because--from what I know at least--children are only placed on the public site WAY down the line. (I seem to remember that they are put up there AFTER parental rights have been termed--and it's a rare case where this is done and there is not already an adoptive family--or the biological parent gives permission. And even then they would be put up AFTER the social worker has exhausted internal ways to promote the child such as calling prospective homes and fost-adopt agencies... but please don't quote me as I'm not totally certain on this!) So, this usually means that special needs/more severe behaviors are coming up. If you feel equipped to handle those needs and behaviors, God bless you and more power to you! These children need phenomenal parents. You might be the parent they've been waiting for.

If you are already licensed with the county or certified with an agency, ask them about logging on to the private, password-protected part of the site. My agency allows us to go into their office to look at the listings online. There are many more available children on the private site because of the confidentiality.

thank you Mommywend for your response. I think everything you stated is pretty much right. I just need to be patient and let God match us with the right baby. I just need to learn I am not in control.

Yes! If any experience will ever teach you that God's in control, this is it! You will look back on this experience in a couple years and agree that He had your best interest--and your baby's--in mind the whole time.
