Unhappy Calling it quits??

I am considering calling it quits with foster care. I feel like my heart has been torn out of me twice now and not sure I can put myself through it anymore. We had to give a baby girl we loved, named and had since she was a day old back to a family member. (which she should have never gone to). Then I got a call last night for a perfect little girl who was also adoptable, well the social worker decided they would put her right into home to adopt her, rather then with us as fosters and to work on adopting her. I am just heartbroken. I didn't sleep at all last night I couldnt wait to meet her and hold her in my arms. I just dont think I can handle the let down anymore. Anyone else feel like this?

of course, that's when i quit and did an international adoption....yet i found myself back in the saddle of a county adoption with my son's birthsibling. it is not fun....but it is easier than when we were with an ffa. i think you would have an easier time if you went through your county and got licensed as fost/adopt parents. that way you would already be approved as adoptive parents when you received placements.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I'm just starting out but I'm sure to hit some heartache along the way. Just know that somewhere out there a child is waiting for you. This is what helps me when I read some of the post here and we aren't even licensed yet. I'm sure you will make the best decision for you and your family.

I am so sorry. Are you working with an FFA or directly through the county. If a soc. worker had the girl and was looking for an adoptive home, they would place with their approved homes before seeking out homes registered with FFA's.

If you haven't signed on with the county directly, it might be worth it to switch. You will need to take 13 parenting classes, but it is worth it.
