Hi I am from San Diego but live in Temecula now. Would love you chat with you. My husband and I have been foster parents for over a year now in Riverside County. I look forward to talking to you.

Nice to meet someone in my area. Did you ever foster in SD? Are you a foster only home or foster-adopt? Either way I look forward to chatting with you too.

No we never fostered in San Diego, I looked into it many years ago when I lived there. Didn't get into foster care till we moved to Riverside Co. I love the agency we are with, however it is not usually foster/adopt. ( sometimes adopt cases do come up tho) And right now placements are very slow in our County for our ages 0-2. Are you going through Angels? I would love to be with them, I just don't want to go through everything to change to them. i look forward to chatting with you. You can PM me as well. Have a great day!

shoot I can not delete my post with the agency name and realized after I posted it that I shouldn't put the agency name there. If someone can delete please do so. I am sorry about that. Duh!

Calimom, to answer you question no. I am not with that agency. I would love to be, but for infants there has to be a stay at home parent.

I am in San Diego -- East County. We have not really started yet though. I filled in an online enquiry and supposedly they will contact us for an orientation meeting w/in a couple weeks.

I'm going to keep a link to this thread so hopefully I can email some of you privately if this gets going. And feel free to contact me privately -- I too would love any help/info I can get.

We went through the process of Foster/Adoption training through San Diego County. It took awhile but we were placed with an adoptive placement through the County. Our license expired earlier this year once our son's adoption was finalized. If anyone is working with the county and wants any advice/insight I'd be happy to answer any questions that you have.

Nice to have someone else in the area. We are waiting for our first licensing visit in a couple of weeks. So hopefully we can get through that then get through the foster-adopt home study.

We are in Cali and starting our training this weekend for foster/adopt. I would like to share info and feelings on the process since we are close to the same stage.

Best wishes.

Question

If you have fostered/adopted through the county do you know if they help with childcare ? Dh and I both work and I heard somewhere that there is some assistance for foster children or discounts with certain childcare centers. Any insight would be appreciated.
