Waiting to match

what is everys ones experiance with waiting to be matched? We are not in that process and i was just wondering and little impaicent. We are going right though the county and last we were told a few weeks ago is that they only had a few home studies that were aproved but i do know there has been a lot of shifting and people settle into new titles at the county so i am guessing that is whats goign to make it take longer. anyone have any ideas? We are open 0-2 boy or girl and will accept many issues. THe only reason we are 0-2 is birth order of our Bio daughter

Hi Heather! My wait to be matched lasted approx 10 months. We were licensed in Feb of '06 and got the call about our son in Dec '06. We were only able to take a child under 4 since that was the age of my youngest and were totally open on race and fairly open on medical/emotional conditions.

At the time we were licensed our worker told us that there were only 120 waiting licensed families in the county, as if that was a small amount, sounds like a large number to me!

I've heard of people getting the call after a few weeks and I have a friend I made in my PRIDE classes who has been waiting for nearly a year and a half, so no matter how long we wait it's too long!

Good luck to you and I'm sure others will have more experiences to share.

Well, ours was fairly quick, we were not even expecting it, since like all you said, we thought it was going to take about a year since we wanted a girl (0-1)and I remember the SW telling us we were going to wait some time for a girl. Well, our homestudy was approved on October 1, 2005 and we received the called about a newborn baby girl on November 18, 2005 at 12 noon. Three hours later we were on our way to pick her up at the hospital. Here she is at two days old and at 18 months old.

Our homestudy worker came out on a wednesday to finish our homestudy. Monday we received the call for twins. We were not excepting twins......and they were only 11 days old.

Our 6 month mark in Dec 07 so i am guessing then or shortly after as she signed her rights away and the bfather is unknown so they just have to do the ad and what have you.

we are signing adoption placement papers and then I guess we wait for our court date to finalize. Not sure if our SW will have that for us on friday.
