Smile Our babies are home

It's been a while since I posted.
June 23rd my family grew by 6 six feet.
My girls - K just turned three and her sisters P & S (twins) 1 1/2.
Must say it's been a bit busy. LOVING IT!
I actually now have FOUR under FOUR. No, I am not crazy I just love toddlers.
During the days I care for 7 children under four. (Helps to suppliment the foster reimbursements.)
OH and by the way - check with your agency about the first check. We were really tight trying to feed 4 girls with no second income. The checks were delayed by thirty days because they are reimbursements they didn't give us the support upfront. I didn't think to ask and our grocery bill for a family of six was more than double what I expected. OH and the diapers add up quick too!

>>>>>>> SO ANYONE WANT TO GET TOGETHER IN PERSON? <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
I want to coordinate a picnic for all those waiting and for those who have their kids.
I know it's hard if you are waiting to see others with children - I have been there...however you might get some positive answers to questions and perhaps a ray of hope to keep you going.

Anyone available SEPT 23rd around 12:30 for a potluck lunch? Stonecreek Park in Rancho Cordova is a wonderful new park with lots of room for the kids.
I am back so if you want to private message me with interest or an alternate date I will be glad to coordiante!

My husband and I have been approved for search for a little over a week. We saw a sib set we are really interested in and the waiting is driving me crazy! We are in the Sac/Roseville area, have no kids currently and are just waiting.

It took eight months exactly to get approved - with a lot of hard work and diligence on our part with getting our paperwork in. So anyone that is currently in that process, hang in there and get that paperwork in!

Smile PLAY DATE - SAT SEPT 22 3 o clock

We are having a foster adopt family gathering and all are invited!

StoneCreek Community Park
Rancho Cordova
50 to Zinfandel - to Sparto Drive

3:00 - SNACK PLAY DATE!
bring snacks for little ones to share...

This is a beautiful new park with a water feature, large sand box (bring sand toys!) Climbing area and kiddie swings. . .

RSVP to juliebingham2002@gmail.com. When you RSVP you will receive a map and directions as well as contact information so we can find each other!

I will be bringing my four children (under four) and some other families have confirmed. The more the merrier.

One thing all adoption professionals say is to have families that you get together with that are similar. That way the children don't have to feel they stand out.

If you don't have children yet, COME - be encouraged by the families that are being formed here. Learn and grow together with other "new" parents of foster adopt children.

If you can't make this one - don't worry, I am already coordinating another for end of October!

I am hoping to establish lifelong friendships for our children.

THANKS ALL.
Julie

Welcome Brett,

What kind of advice and information are you looking for? We adopted through Sacramento county. We tried to go through Sierra and they just seemed like they did not want to deal with us. If you want to know anything about Sac county feel free to email me at gwilfong@hotmail.com. If it is not raining tomorrow you should come out to the park.

We've been invited-Sacramento Valley Adoption Picnic

We finished up our home study and were invited to the Sacramento Valley Adoption Picnic on Oct. 18th.

Is anyone else here going to this picnic?

How's everyone doing?

So, how is everyone doing here! Loving the weather here in Sacramento! We'll need to set up another meet up since the last was cancelled due to the weather. What do you say Julie?

I am sorry I couldn't make it on the 23rd. I am sure you would understand but I forgot all about it until I just reread this topic. I had training for the foster to adopt that day anyway but I am still so very sorry I didn't make. Hope you had fun anyway.

Still waiting to be matched

I'm in Roseville and have been approved (w/husband) since October 2007. We haven't been matched yet and wondered how things are going for you? Thank you.

Our update is that we were approved September 4th and were matched on November 29th. We didn't meet the kids until two weeks later and they didn't come into our home until two weeks after that. Then official placement was not until 01/02/08. So it was a long placement process.

Part of what helped us get placed so fast is that we were looking for a sib set and we were willing to take up to age 7. I can imagine it would have taken longer if we had not had such open possabilities. hang in there. It's hard to wait, but it will happen.

Waiting in Ca.

Thank you Mommy2Be76. We originally wanted an infant up to age 2. And only a girl. Shortly after, we did update it to allow a sib group that included a boy and went up to age 6. We also updated to include concurrent planning. I was afraid of that in the beginning as I didn't want to toally fall in love and have the child removed. But, my husband and I realized that we have to take that risk, so we keep up that faith.

My husband and I are in Lake county. We will find out April 10th if we will have a little girl placed with us or not. Be nice to have some buddies for her as I only know one person with a young child.
