Question Regarding Home Study

Can anyone tell me if both the State and the County do a separate home study? The sw handling the MAPP class says she will do our home study, and then when I called Foster Care Licensing (which is a State office) to see if they received our application they said our Foster Care Analyst will contact us to set up the home study. Any information you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

We're in LA County. It sounds like the State person visits the home to make sure everything is in place regarding safety type issues (proper beds for the child, cleaning products put above reach of child, etc...).

Before, State and county used to do a separate home study, now the State will just go and inspect your house, basically to make sure there are no hazards, check smoke detectors, etc. Once you passed that, they will contact your social worker for the home study. You still need to get fingerprinted by the state again, since the fingerprints from the county will not work for them.
