LA county--We signed our papers!! How much longer?

So, we signed our placement papers two days ago . The SW gave us a copy right then for our attorney (private) and I mailed them off the same day. Attorney got them yesterday and said he would file within a week .

So, for those who have finalized in LA county, how long from filing did you get a court date? More specificlly, how long before the court called back with a date and how long after that was the finalization date? There was no appeal from bio's, they are out of the picture, and appeal time is up anyway.

Just trying to bide my time until the call.

Coopspa,

Congratulations!!! We are about to sign papers in two weeks, I called my attorney (private as well) and he told me that it could take about 6 weeks to get a court date, it all depends how quickly SW gives him all the paperwork that he needs. But, I will be interested to find out the wait as well!!

Isa

Coopspa,

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I love how the county drags their feet on everything yet when it comes to changing your child's foster payments to AAP payments they do it immediately. I wish all of foster care worked that quickly.

I signed papers on April 17 and we finalized August 1. My lawyer at the time said it was taking 4 - 6 weeks to get a court date after all the paperwork was handled. And the court date was usually two weeks after that. My attorney called for a court date on June 1st.

I'm so happy for you,

Yash
