After TPR...how long a wait?

[/font]
Wednesday is our foster son's 26 hearing. Assuming TPR is approved I know there is still a 60 day wait for appeal from mom. Our home study is done and approved so after TPR does he go into adoption placement or is that after the 60 day appeal period?

After that 60 days is up then how long before we can adopt?

(She is currently in jail and is awaiting trial for prison for min 3 year from one county and another 3 years min from another county.)

waiting

Hi, after the appeal and assuming the parents don't appeal (they usually do) and the paper work has come back from Sac. You need a post adoption placement visit (three if the child hasn't been in the home long), and then sign the adoptive placement papers. Its just a matter of getting on the court books after this. We have adopted three times our youngest son's 26 was in Nov. and he finalized April 25 of this year.

How long it takes after the 26 depends a lot on how quickly he is assigned an adoptive social worker and how experienced this social worker is . Our son should have been assigned an adoptive social long before the 26 as he was declared an abandoned baby by the Judge last June. He wasn't assigned his adoptive social worker in October and she was new to adoptions . This was a very long wait for our beloved son to share our last name. I pray your process will go quickly.

Hi There
Our two girls trp hearing was 10/5 and we still haven't finalized. There was no appeal, just no sense of urgency on behalf of soc.servives I believe. Plus, I think our girl's adoptions worker was streched thin due to all the budget cuts etc. And she took a month long vacation in the middle of it all. I think the most frustrating part was that when she had finally gotten their telling written, she let us know that they needed a psych eval before they could be officially placed w/ us as an adoptions placement. It took another month to get an appointment for that...very frustrating as I could have made an appointment for them while we were waiting. Anyway, we signed our placement papers the last week of April, have our last visit w/ the SW in 2 weeks (our girls have been w/ us almost 2 years now), then we are just waiting for the court date, hopefully some time in Aug. I have to say though, we got their new Medi-Cal cards today w/ their new names on them and their monthly checks have their new names and it is very exciting!!

Our 2 year old was TPRed in October of 2004 and we haven't even had our telling yet, let alone signed placement papers. We've had her for 15 months. She was a concurrent planning case. Our workers are all over worked with way too many cases. The bparents appealed and that was denied in April. They get 3 more months to appeal to the state supreme court. I just found out that they have to pay for that themselves if they choose to go that route though. Their 3 months are up in July. I'll be surprised if we finalize before the end of the year.

3 months

My son's TPR hearing happened in February and we weren't able to finalize his adoption until May and that was with us calling everyone to help get us to the finalization hearing (the most amazing court visit ever!) You have the time you will need.
