It's true what they say -- it's one phone call that changes your whole life in this waiting process for adoption (thru foster care). I received the call on 29 July, and flew down to meet my girls last weekend, and they're here this weekend (leaving this morning). This Saturday I drive down to bring them home forever. It has been amazing to see how God has prepared me for them, and literally brought MY children right to my door that are a perfect fit.

I know -- there will be difficult times ahead, but we're already having some reality peak thru the honeymoon, and they're responding well to the direction part as well as lapping up the love and attention. I have an incredible support system around me of family and friends through work and church, which you absolutely have to have if you're going to adopt siblings. You can't do it alone if you're single like I am....but it definitely is possible. I'll write more later -- sorry I am not ready yet to share too many details on them -- they're 7 and 10 and they're beautiful. I'm sure you experienced ones out there understand...

Congratulations! What a blessing! I am so glad you have a community of support as you begin your life as a mother. Best wishes to you and your girls.

It was so encouraging to read your post. My husband and I want to adopt a waiting sibling group. We were matched with a beautiful set of 3 that we fell in love with, but the foster mother changed her mind and she is adopting them after all. It is good to be reminded that sibling adoptions do happen!

You will obviously be extremely busy these days. But I would be interested in hearing from people who've adopted from California's foster care system how the process went. We live in lllinois, so we will have the added bureaucracy of an interstate compact if we are matched with kids in California. I suppose in keeping with the message board's policy, responses should be emailed to me? I'm not sure.

Anyway, a big congratulations to Anita! Thanks for sharing your joy with us.

I know exactly how you feel. I although am married but my experience and feelings are all the same. We have been waiting for so long and that one phone really changed our life in a matter of weeks. We now have two beautiful girls that are so happy being here. We had a few difficult times the first week or so but things are getting along so well now. They even call us mommy and daddy, I just love that. I also have much support from family and friends. I can't wait until the papers are signed and i can really say that they are mine, even though i say it now and could not be without them. Best of luck!!

Sorry to hear about your missed opportunity but be patient. L.A. County has so many sib groups the perfect set is just waiting for you to come along. They will be there sooner then you know.
