Are you doing Foster adopt (concurrent planning)? What county are you working with? We and our two fdaughters, who we are in the process of adopting, are from San Diego County. We wanted a girl 0-3. Our SW told us we'd probably be looking at a year and a half to 2 years. Well, our beautiful 3 mos old baby daughter was placed w/ us just after waiting 4 months, so you never know...We have been incredibly fortunate so far in this whole process. We hope to finalize around the holidays. The baby just turned one, and we are also adopting her 10 yr old sister who joined us a month later. We also have a 7 year old biodaughter. We LOVE having 3 girls!!

Treschicas,
Hello, we are adopting through Sacramento County or surronding areas. It was so nice to hear that you adopted the ten year old sibling of your three month old daughter. That is great especially since you have a 7 year old. How is your court process going? We had a very easy time with our daughter but a horriable long appeal process with our son. The only reason we finalized was that the potential birth father was proved not bio. related thus he had no rights. Birth mom had nothing to do with the baby and never showed intrest. So, we finalized!!!! The hardest part for us was birth mom gave birth to another son two weeks after our son turned one. We were offered him as a placement, but we were going through a horriable court fight already with the potential father. The new baby had a diffrent father, but we needed to focus on our one year old son. Now, he's two and we are finalized and mentally ready!!!! Actually, birth mom sent a letter to our agency wishing to meet us. We sent her a letter in March thanking her for giving us a son that we cherish and adore. Her return letter was beautiful. She said that she was glad to hear that he was safe, loved and doing well. She thanked us for being his parents and that a day does not go by that she doesn't think of him. It touched my heart in so many ways. We have never met her and she only visited him when he was in a temp. foster home when he was a newborn. We are hopefully going to meet soon at the adoptive agency. I told her in my letter that she is such an important person to our family and that I would like to write her update letters and send pictures as our son grows. She said she would love that. Hopefully, everthing is going well for you. I think it would be so fun to raise three girls. Nikki |
