Reynamj, what do you mean by no rooms just squares? If you foster or adopt the child needs to have a bedroom with walls, a closet, a window, a bedroom door and of course his or her own bed. You can call the San Bernardino County Foster home licensing department with any questions you might have. Good luck, Sonni

Very Strict Guidelines
There are very strict guidelines to follow. For our area the child must have a room of their own (unless they are under the age of 2). As the person before mentioned, a room must have a door. There is a limit of 2 children per room and they must be the same sex. When they come for the home inspection they will walk through whatever steps you would need to complete in order to come up to speed (we had to move our smoke alarm 6 inches and add a few locks on some cabinets). Sounds like you are a long ways away from that point though. They will give you all the information you need to know in advance usually.

Home Study
How long does it take in San Bernardino County to get into home study? Should we call and keep reminding them we are waiting to take the class. We received are letter but the end of the year looks bleak for classes. I don't want to be such a pain but I would really like to get the 30 hours over. thanks karen

Time line for san bernardino
Ok so here is where we are:
Went to orientaiton in mid August 2004 Receievd a letter stating we are in the counties books and now we wait for a pride class opening. September 2004 We said we were only available for night classes maybe I should change it to all classes? Should I call and ask them if there is a Taking Care of Business day coming up or do I wait and hear from the county again. I work a block away from the county office in San Bernardino, maybe I should just drop by? Did you just wait till you heard back from the county? |
