Hi...
I am almost done with the licensing process here in Riverside. I am looking to share stories with others in Riverside county doing the Foster to Adopt program. Please reply to this thread Doreen |

I have recently got into the foster program with my wife and we welcomed two beautiful little girls into our home. I have recently found out that they might return to their birthmother but it is not for sure. The social worker from Riverside County told me just because we are their foster parents it does not mean we will be able to adopt them. There is some type of waiting list of prospective adoptive parents and supposedly we have to get on that list and hope for the best. Is that true from the experiences you have had with Riverside county? I need a little guidance from someone who has some experience on the issue. If you are concerned about who you are talking to, don't be I am a Deputy Sheriff and I am just looking for some insight into the machine they call social services.
Thank you Damian |

Well... 3 days before we were to be licensed for foster care...an amazing opportunity for a private adoption happened for my husband and I...
We decided to do the private adoption instead and brought our baby girl home from the hospital at 15 hrs old..I am a nurse on the unit she was born at..I work in Labor and delivery and with newborns so they allowed me to take her home early. Now my path has changed But..as far as foster to adopt...you need to let them know that is what you want to do...then you will get an adoption social worker and they will place you with an infant or child that they believe will be adopted. They try not to move the kids any more than they have to..at least that is what I was told. I was working with very nice SW's except for one in particular and as soon as she found out we were doing a private adoption..she refused to license us for foster care...but she was a B*#@ to us through the whole process. It's a shame she did that because we were willing to still do some foster care in a few months...now the children will suffer. I hope I answered your question. Doreen |

Thanks for the advice, that must be pretty nice to choose a child right from the get go.
Take care Damian |
