I had a child as a single mother through artificial insemination two years ago.
I have since married a man who has been in my life for two years PRIOR to having my son. He would like to adopt my son. We would like to do as much of the adoption ourselves to save money. We've already fired one attorney who didn't know much about adoption, let alone our unique situation. Is this just a matter of paperwork? There is no father listed on my son's b/c and I have letters from the sperm bank and my ob/gyn verifying my procedure and termination of rights from the donor. I cannot find any information regarding our type of situation and would love some direction! |

From what I understand since you dont have to terminate parental rights all you have to do is file your adoption paperwork for step parent adoption. If you are in CA, go to www.courtinfo.ca.gov and go to forms and adoptions. In the step parent adoption form there is a box you check if you were artifically inseminated. I hope this helps.
