We are in the process of adopting a teenager from DCFS Los Angeles County and I am wondering where the need for a lawyer comes in.
This child's mother died and therefore parental rights are already terminated. The Social Worker feels this is a "slam dunk" so I don't know why we would need a lawyer. Perhaps I am just uneducated, so if you know, please educate me. Thanks much,

Have you contacted an adoption lawyer to see what they have to say? We adopted domestically but our lawyer is in Newport Beach, let me know if you want his number and I would be happy to forward it to you.

I would love it! Thank you! Can you tell me what we are looking at in the way of costs? You can send me a private message if you prefer.
Thank you again!
