Help! Independent Adoption

Hi, I have just found this web site and I think it is great.... After submitting an application with the county for adoption, we waited almost a year for a home study and interviews, never got a called back, we decided to close the case and pursue in vitro a couple of months ago, which failed.. We decided to start the adoption process again, but now with a private agency. Don't want the county involved at all..

However, we received a phone call last night from a friend that she knows someone who wants to give up her child for adoption... She wanted to have an abortion, but she was too far along (five months), so she wanted to know if we were interested. Of course, we said yes instantly, no need to think about it. But know we don't know how to proceed with this... This lady doesn't want her baby at all, and mentioned that she will give the baby to us right away, and leave... I know it is not that simple.. Do we contact an attorney? or Where do we go for help? If at all possible, I don't want to be involved with the county... Any suggestions, on how to proceed will be much appreciated.

Also has anyone have any experience with Adoption faciliator services, please send a pm. Thank you.

Any references for attorneys in the san gabriel valley will be much appreciated. Thanks,

Isa

Hello,
I am currently working with an adoption attorney. They pretty much do everything. Once the bmom is close to having the baby, the facilitator will come into play that you would hire thru your attorney. This is just my experience.

I would check into attorney's that only specialize in the adoption field. Mine is part of the AAAA foundation. Try to find one that does as well. They are pretty good. Agency's will help with all of this too.

JMO.
