Introduction
Hi Crissy,
I'm Mary, DH is Steve and aparents to Nora (7) and Carly (4). We live in the Los Angeles area and we are fairly active with an adoptive parents group called Holy Family Adoptive Parents or HFAP for short. They have fun activities for afamilies and sometimes adults only. It is a great way for our kids to know other achildren so they don't think something is wrong with them being the only adoptive kids they know. We even have an yahoo email group. Both our girls are from closed adoptions by bparents choice. We thought we were going to meet Carly's bfamily but at the last minute they changed their mind. Both girls were premature, Nora 6 weeks and Carly 10 weeks. Nora is our emotional and hypersensative child. Carly is our easy going, hyperactive child. But the best is to see the two of them together being sisters to one another. I think we are done adopting but I would really like to be a foster family for our agency. I would love to be the one to hand babies to the waiting families. I know what they have been through. Right now, I am an audiologist in private practive and DH works for Disney in their film distribution office and that keeps us busy at work so we will have to wait on the fostering. Would love to meet other CA adoptive families on line. Marz |

Hi
It's nice to meet both of you. DH and I have been married 10 years on Feb 19th we have 2 bio boys and are looking forward to adopting a little girl (0-2). We are completing both our MAPP classes and our licensing as we speak and are excitedly awaiting the matching process. We are considering doing fostercare while awaiting the arrival of "our" baby hoping to facilitate the process. We live in Granada Hills in LA County. I am a part time Educational Therapist at a local Christian school and DH works for the LADWP. We pray that the "process" doesn't take too long, as I am turning 36 this year and DH is turning 46 and the boys just keep getting bigger and bigger......

Hi all...We are a family that lives in Orange County. We have a 6 1/2yr. old home-grown son, a 2 1/2yr. old daughter, sent to us from God through adoption and a 7 month old son, also sent to us from God through adoption. We adopted through Nightlight Christian Adoptions in Fullerton.
Mary, we have a friend that foster's for Holy Family. They always have precious little ones. We definately see fostering when our babies are older. We emergency fostered for our agency a little over a year ago and we had so much fun. The little girl stayed with us for four weeks and words can't even describe how precious it was to give her to her new family. It was their first baby. I could hardly maintain...I re-lived all the emotions of when our children came home. ![]() So, all that to say hello fellow Southern Californians. |

Hi Everyone,
My husband and I live in Orange County. We have a 15 1/2 year old bio son from my prior marriage and a 6 month old son we are in the process of adopting.
We started on the adoption path one year ago. We had one failed match and then were surprised with the call regarding our son a couple of weeks later. Austin was born the following morning -- we were there for his birth and were able to bring him home three days later. Our plans are to finalize this adoption and then start the process for another!

Update on Adoption process
Hello my neighbors,
Things here are going wonderful. My husband is now home and our SW comes out on the 22 (next Monday) for us to sign the homestudy, as I stated before we are already licensed as of the 28th of Jan. Yeah!!!! Oh my gosh how quickly time goes by. Well we are ready and hope we get matched rather quickly. I am extremely excitted and cannot wait until we have our little ones in our arms... Well hope all is well for everyone else. Best wishes. Crissy

Its going to be soon!
Hi Everyone, We have been approved to Foster/Adopt for 5 months now. We are waiting for 1 or 2 boys, 0 to 6 years old. We have plenty of room in our home but we would like to start plans of building our dream home in the country. We are not sure how this would effect our adoption. I know licenseing is very strict and the childs worker may not approve of us moving in the middle of new children trying to settle in. If anyone has any ideas or feedback I would be greatful to hear it. Our new home would take about 4 or 5 months to build. We could place everything on hold until we are finished building but we hate to do that. We have already been waiting for a match 5 months. We have had 4 close calls of a possible match but for various reasons they did not pan out. We feel like we are getting close. I have big dreams of our kids rideing go-carts around our 4 acre property out in the country! Sonni

Hi Sonni
Did you talk to licensing about it and your SW. I would defintely go by their recommendations. You have been waiting so long and I would hate for you to miss your match. I would definetly call licensing and your placement worker and find out what they think and if they feel you will be placed soon. Tell them you are wanting to know if you should hold off on the idea of starting to build your new home or if they feel it will be ok to start building and then just have licensing come out and relicense you and then go from there. I know I would contact them ASAP before I make any decisions in reguards to moving or future plans to move. Best wishes Crissy

your reply HI Crissy, by husband and I live in the Helendale area. Not far from Ft. Irwin. We are just starting the homestudy process. We have already raised 4 beautiful children. And are now raising our grand son. We dont look or act like your run of the mill grandparents. But we have a grand total of 6, 5 boys of 1 girl. our youngest is 1 month old. We are the blended family. He had 2 and I had 2 from previous marriages. So now we want to adopt ours. An older child maybe even a sibling group. Anyway our story in a nut shell.

hi
Hello, its nice to meet you! We are in the process of waiting for a match. We were already on referral atleast twice. So what part of the process are you in right now. We are enjoying this process very much. I stay busy with my two biological boys right now so that helps with some of the waiting. We are open to mild to moderate conditions and open to take a sibling set 0-5 yrs. We would prefer a girl be atleast 0-35 mos. We will see how things go. I get very excitted. Well hope your process goes well and if you ever need to talk email me anytime. Crissy
