Agency Feedback
Has anybody ever heard anything about Adoption Connections in San Francisco, good or bad? We are in the process of determining which agency to use and are looking for feedback. Thanks.

Hi Milliemoo-
I am going to the informational meeting at Adoption Connections this week. I have heard good things about them so I can report once I meet them in person. I am new on these boards. My husband and I just recently decided to adopt domestically and are very excited. I think we are going to go with an agency and an attorney. We live in the East Bay. Where are you? Heidge |

Hi Heidge -
Thanks for the reply. I'm new on these boards as well. My wife and I live in the South Bay and have been investigating adoption and agencies for awhile now and have decided to move forward with domestic adoption. We have attended program orientations for Adoption Connection, Independent Adoption Center, Lifetime, and Pact. We've also spent a considerable amount of time on the phone getting orientation type info from The Family Network, Catholic Charities, and American Adoptions. Based on what we've done so far we have a considerable amount of objective data but very little feedback from people that have actually used these organizations or who know of someone that did. I've heard good things about Adoption Connection as well, and the people I've spoken with there seem very knowledgeable and competent, although I was not impressed with their program orientation. Conversely, I was very impressed with the program orientation at Independent Adoption Center but I've heard some concerning things about them. It's hard to sort it all out. While I wasn't impressed with Adoption Connection's orientation (the presentation of info was a bit unorganized and scattered) I do think it's a good use of time and I also found the information they provided very useful. Thanks again for the feedback. -- Milliemoo |

Hi Milliemoo. . .
In LA here. Just wanted to remind you that you are not limited to adopting with a California agency. When we adopted our angel, we were not comfortable with a 90 day revocation, which has since been changed to 30 (big difference.) Last I understood, PACT was no longer acting to facilitate adoption but continuing their education program for families. Maybe they began again. We began our journey with Gladney in Texas and ultimately used A TLC adoption in Salt Lake City. There has been a lot of feedback on the boards regarding some of the agencies/facilitators you mentioned, some it it not positive. Before committing to any route, I would contact the Bureau of Licensing usually headed under the Medicaid Division for licensure details on the agency. Unfortunately, because facilitators are not licensed, it is not possible to do this prior to using them. Best of luck!

Adoption Connection vs. IAC
Hi,
We've attended info session with both Adoption Connection in SF and IAC in Pleasant Hill. They are definitely different in approach. The IAC seems more aggressive with more up front fees, but the comments about their follow thru are scary. Meanwhile the Adoption Connection folks are very responsive and helpful. Both agencies had very knowledgable coordinators. I'd be intrigued to here about others experiences with the Adoption Connection. |

Hi Redhedded -
Very cute baby, you both are very lucky. Thanks for the info on the Bureau of Licensing, I'll check into it. We considered some out of state agencies and decided we'd be more comfortable with an agency that was close enough for us to go by and visit if the need arose. By the way, Pact is currently facilitating adoptions again as well as continuing with their educational courses. |

Adoption Connection vs. IAC
All comments I've heard from people that have actually used Adoption Connection have been positive to extremely positive from the standpoint of knowledge, flexibility, cost, and ethics.
