I am interested in finding my birth parents and to see if I have any siblings. I have never done this before. I come from a wonderful family but I am curious. My husband is also adopted. Please contact me if you had a baby girl on July 23, 1968.

I was also adopted through the Children's Home Society in Los Angeles. I recently called their Post Adoption Services dept (you can find the number online) and requested a copy of my non-id information (the papers in their files with the names blotted out). They will provide the medical history information for free, but they charge $100 for the complete info after you send them a notarized letter. There is no guarantee how complete the files will be. I was told there is a 4 month wait until I get my papers.

CHS also has an adoption registry where you can be matched if someone is looking for you.

In the meantime, you should register with the ISRR and any other adoption registries you can find online.

In my case, I was found by some 2nd cousins who posted a query online. They were not eligible to register with the ISRR because they are not immediate family. My bparents are both deceased. Although I have learned many facts about my bparents, I am hopeful that I will gain a new insight from the info in my files.

By the way, I was also born on July 23, but back in the 50's. I've always loved having a birthday in July (no school), and 23 is my favorite number. I don't follow astrology, but I don't like charts that put me as a Leo because I am much more of a Cancer.
