California search: Don't want to get ripped off
I am searching for my aunt who was adopted in 1952. She was inspired by the open adoption of my son.
I have birth mom name per the adoption decree. I am going to start a search, but the websites are overwhelming. Any advice, particularly since what I have might be a maiden name. Any guess what sections 220 and 224 of the California Civil Code were in 1952. I assume that it was some sort of abandonment procedure. Also, is it possible that the birth mom's last name might be misspelled in the adoption decree. Thanks |

personally i wouldnty pay for any of the search sites until it is a last resort. I have a CA birth index if you want to pm or email the birthmoms name. It will show the babies name, if named, or babygirl.... if not named and may show a double listing showing the mothers maiden name and the fathers name. it the name you have is a married name I may be able to find the maiden name as well.
