Heart Looking for Birth mother..... 9/8/71

Hello , I am looking for my birth mother who was 17 when she gave me up at birth. I was born in San Diego Ca and her name was Kathleen Renee ( dont have last name) My b-date is 9/8/71 ... I was told she named me her own name before I was given up.. and per Cal. law I spent 3months in foster care .. to insure she was in fact going to sign papers ... the foster family named me "baby Sarah' ... my name after adoption is Gina VanBerkel
I have NO idea where to begin my search but am Very interested in finding out where I come from..
Any help would be appreciated greatly! thank you !

FRENCHY KATHLEEN R 1971 09 08 SOLE FEMALE SAN DIEGO
SOLE KATHLEEN R 1971 09 08 SOLE FEMALE SAN DIEGO

You are listed twice because your mother was not married to your father. So they list you with both names. Your mother's maiden name was Sole and your father's last name was Frenchy. That if this is you, which I believe it is.

I will search a few other things and see if I can find a married name or a current address. If I do, I will send you a private message.

Question Los Angeles County Court Docket information

Moving this post from another place, in hopes of getting some help:

I read the following:

"While most or all of the court records may be officially sealed, in some cases a searcher may be able to view the court's Docket Appearance Book, a daily record of who appeared in court and why on a particular day, or even the Minute Book log, with the results of each court appearance (Culligan, 1996). Also, local newspapers from the time of the adoption may carry a notice of the filing of the Petition to Adopt in the classified section. This normally includes the name of the couple adopting, as well as the birth name of the child/infant and the name of the social worker assigned to the case (Culligan, 1996)." From the Child Welfare Information Gateway.

My question is, does anyone live close enough to Los Angeles Superior Court or the Main Los Angeles Library that they could go and look for this information? Or does anyone know if the court docket information in Los Angeles County is available to be searched?

I am trying to locate information for an adoption on "Baby Boy" King, born August 1, 1964 at Oak Park Community Hospital. According to the NID info, his mother's maiden name was Jones, her married name was King and the birth father's name was Stahl. Also the birth mother and her husband (who signed as the "legal" father) signed the relinquishment papers on August 19, 1964. The adoptive parents last name was Werderman.
The baby was placed with his adoptive family on October 13, 1964 and the adoption was finalized on October 11, 1965.

We live in Kentucky so a physical search is not possible for us and we have tried contacting the Los Angeles Library, they will not search for us, because they don't have the staff for that they say. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.

No, the adoptee is my husband. And I am searching with his blessing and his request. He doesn't like to do this kind of searching. He gets frustrated if he can't find his answers quickly. And I have been searching for 4 years now.

Are you still doing this? Bless your heart if so!

I'm looking for my brother. He was born Christopher Lee Schell on July 20, 1972 in Los Angeles. Our mother, Janine Helen Jackson, was at St. Anne's Maternity home at the time, and was told he would be adopted by two teachers who already had an adopted child.

I'm just starting my search and have envelopes waiting in my car for postage, a registration form to go to ISRR and a Waiver of Confidentiality For Siblings for for the CDSS Adoptions Support Unit.

Any help whatsoever you could provide would be so, so, so appreciated!!

Wendy,

I have been told that the court dockets are considered public records. I have not been able to search because I don't llive in California, but if your mother has the papers from when she placed your brother for adoption, it should give you the date that the adoption was finalized. You should be able to check the court docket records for the names of the people that were on the docket for that day. It might help you narrow down your search. Just a thought. I am still trying to find someone in the LA County area that might be willing to go search those dockets for me.

Phyllis

She doesn't have any papers. Besides, even if she did my grandmother would have burned them by now. She was so ashamed of my mother that she threatened to disown her and there was a huge cover-up to the whole thing. My mother supposedly went to visit her aunt in Arizona. She had to send letters to home to Arizona, where her aunt would remail them so they'd be postmarked from there. She wasn't too far from home. When she came home on weekend visits, she had to lay down on the floor completely covered by a blanket when her mom got to the neighborhood. And afterward it was strictly NOT mentioned. Wouldn't want to sully the family name. Or some crap.

But from what mom said, she's pretty sure the adoption happened the day after he was born. So I'd just have to look on the court dockets for the next day? Or, have someone in LA look them up? And find whoever was there... would it say what they were there for? Wow. this is so exciting! I wonder if any of this is online?

Wendy,

MY husband was born in California in 1964, they put the baby in foster care. It was standard procedure. My husband's adoptive family didn't get him until he was 3 months old. Also, we have his court papers and they are from when the adoption was finalized a year later. But your mother had to sign relinguishment papers that would have been filed with the court, I believe. Your mother can contact the courtand/or agency that handled her adoption and request copies of her paperwork. She can explain that the papers were misplaced over the years or something. She has a right to her court papers, it won't have a lot, but it will give you a place to start. Also, court dockets are not online, I have looked, sorry.

Oooh, thank you! I've called the maternity home asking for the procedure for getting a copy of them. They're sending a release form to see what they can do. Thank you for the heads up, hopefully it'll contain any piece of helpful info! :-D

Even if she wasn't the legal parent any longer?? And we're 99.9% his name was changed... would we request it under his birth name? That's exciting. $14 isn't too bad for a copy of a birth certificate in Ca...
