Looking for birth family. Was born August 1, 1964 at Oak Park Community Hospital. Mother was married but separated and had an affair resulting in her becoming pregnant. Soon after, she and her husband renconciled and they decided it was best to place the baby up for adoption. We know that the birth mother was born in Michigan and that she mother and step father were living in Illinois in 1964. Also the birth father was born in Texas and was in the Marines. Birth mother was 22 at the time of the birth and had two sons, 5 and 3. Birth father was 27 at the time. We know birth mother's maiden name was "Jones" and the the husband and birth fathers names were "Stahl" and "King" but don't know which name goes with which man. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We got information that the birth father's initials are L and D. Also, managed to get someone at the Birth Records office to verify that Stahl is the birth father's name and King is the husband's name.

Our search revealed that there was only ONE "L D STAHL" born in Texas that fit with the birth father information we have, Lawrence Dale Stahl. We called him but he refused to talk to us. So about two months later, a search angel offered to call him for us (this was on June 30th this year), and she was told by his wife that he died three days prior. She said she knows nothing about his life before they married in 1985 because he refused to discuss it with her. We have checked for obituaries and the social security death index but there is no proof that he actually died. We do know he had a first wife that he married in December 1964 in Carson City, NV, but we can't find any information on her. Her name was Barbara J Taylor. We believe they divorced prior to 1985, since there is no record of her in any death records that we have searched. He married both wives in Carson City, NV but there is no divorce record there and we can't find anything in California so far.

We know that Lawrence's most recent address is in Tustin, CA. And during an address search, we found information that a "Dale Stahl", age 31 lived at that same address, but we can't find any other information on him. Lawrence must have lived at the same address for quite some time because there is no other address listed for him on any background searches we have done either.

If anyone has access to divorce records in either Los Angeles County or Orange County, CA, we would appreciate your help in our search. We would like to try to contact his first wife, since he married her soon after his son was placed for adoption, she may know something.

During further searches trying to locate who we thought was Lawrence Stahl's first wife, we found she is actually his second wife. Lawrence married Linda Jean Keith June 15, 1957 in Los Angeles County, CA. They divorced sometime before Dec 1960, because Linda remarried to a man named Gary Tullberg in Dec 1960. I found 4 Stahl children listed with a mother whose maiden name was Keith, but only 2 fit in the time frame of Lawrence and Linda's marriage - Karen L. (born May 19, 1958) and Jeffrey D. (born Sept. 1, 1960).

Next Lawrence had the affair with the Jones/King woman in late 1963 resulting in the birth of my husband in August 1964.

Then he married Barbara J Taylor in Clark County, NV on Dec. 8, 1964. I have not found any children for this marriage.

Finally, Lawrence married Evelyn Geneva Hoad on January 5, 1985 in Clark County, NV. As far as I can tell they don't have any children together.

I think our best chance of information would be from one of the children or from Barbara.

Any one that can help or has access to info in CA or NV, we would appreciate the help.

UPDATE: We got confirmation today that Lawrence Dale Stahl WAS my husband's birth father. He passed away in 2006. We were able to track down his ex wife, and he had told her about my husband!! She also gave us the birth mothers name - Linda King!! Now I am looking for ANY info I can find on her. We know that she was born in Michigan, was 22 in 1964 (making her born 1941 or 1942). Her mother was living in Illinois in 1964. She was married with two boys - one was 5 and one was 3 in 1964. Linda was adopted by her step father when she was a young child, her maiden name was listed as Jones, but we don't know if that is her fathers name or her step fathers. She also had stated to the adoption agency that her father was part Chippewa Indian. If this means anything to anyone, please contact us.
