I am searching for my birth family. From searching the birth index i believe that I have figured out my last names, however am at a loss of what to do next. Here is the information I have:


Orange County Adoption Services (agency)
Born: January 15, 1980

Possible Birth Last name: Mother's Maiden: Coffey
Other name listed (Father) Hill



I was born in Anaheim, CA at Anaheim Memorial Hospital. I was told by my adopted mom that my mom was from Ireland (name fits and is one of 2 females that are listed twice with no baby first name the other is of mexican descent and does not fit). i would love any help or direction that you could offer. I appreciate your time and your help!

I had requested non-id but my letter was returned along with an address to forward it to. I did and I waited several months before hearing back but today I did.

I heard back from someone with LA County Adoptions- she sent me a letter saying she couldn't send me info because I was a sibling but if I send a photocopy of our mother's ID, she can send her the info. What a happy coincidence we share a mailbox LOL

I sent that off this morning, so I should have some non-id info in a week! I'm so excited!

She also told me that there's a law in the works for California that states a searching family member (that would be me!) can petition the court and they'll assign a thrid party (she was assuming it'd be the agency) to contact him and see if he, too, would be interested in filing a sibling waiver form. I thought it was already how things worked, but she said it was kinda new, as of January? Either way she'll be sending me more info on that, as well.

I finally feel like I'm making some progress here... it's a amazing feeling!

I am so happy to see an update of encouraging news! I know the sibling waiver forms are not new, but it sounds like what you are saying is that if you send one in they will actually contact the sibling to see if they also want to fill out the form (in essence letting them know that someone out there is inquiring about them). If so, I think that's the part that may be new. I had never heard of them doing something like that before.

My wife and I have been trying to obtain a copy of her original birth certificate to find the FULL NAMES of her birth parents and their DOB. We know her pre-adoption or birth name and found her on the free vitalsearch. The parental information was limited to last names only. We subsequently sent a request to Sacramento office of vital records for a birth cert. but they responded saying that no such record existed. I presume this is due to the record being sealed. Would the pay Vitalsearch feature provide more detailed information? Her birth names and information provided on Vitalsearch was;

DOB 1/12/1971
Mothers maiden name: Alvarez
Fathers last name: Sheehy

I'm looking for my half-sister who was put up for adoption. I only recently found out that I have a half-sister so it was quite a shock. I'd love to find her and just be able to talk to her.

All I know is the birth mother's information (my mom) and I have a date of birth and first name of the adopted child but I'm not sure about the accuracy of that information.

I've done some searches online but I haven't really found anything yet.
My mom's name is Gayle Steil (back then it would have been Gayle Allen) and I think the first name of the adopted child is Shelley, born 7/31/1968 in San Diego, CA.

If anyone has any memberships on the paid search sites I would appreciate some help. If you find anything please email me through my profile!

first names of birth parents karen and Larry unsure of DOB but possble lived in Pacifica, California for a time. Larry was in the army, and birth MOms Dad was an airforce Col. and thier was something about time spent in Panama. I was born at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco CAlifornia in November 1973.
