Hi my name is Larissa and I have arrived here needing help for a friend of mine that is a Native American Indian that was born in California in 1970 and was later adopted at 5 years of age. He is in prison but is trying desprately to locate his birth mother and tribe that she is from. I am not sure where to start looking he does not have a lot of information and his adoptive parents do not wish to give him any information on this. So I would like to ask if there is anyone who might care to start me in the right direction of what I can do to start the search for him. Can this be done by me or is it better to have one of these companies do all the work for you. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions from anyone who has done thier own search.
Thank you

Hello Larissa,
Welcome to the boards!
You can always do as much digging around as "you" want to but you won't be given any info, your friend has to be the one to request info or his parnets. I honestly don't know anything about Native American Laws but I was born in CA also and I am ISO my b/mom. I would say keep digging, keep asking, talk to people here. Maybe even try contacting Colleen the searchguru here on the forum. I know because he is Native American Indian that he can pettition the court for his info and also if he has a medical condition. Keep talking here, I know someone will have some information for you and your friend to point you in the right direction. Take care

what info do you have? What City is he from and where was he adopted? I didn't have any info either and my adopted parents weren't willing to help as well, but I was able to get my non-id info through the organization I was adopted out of. Where is he at?
