I have posted messages in message rooms of my birth state(CA) and by the year of my birth (1961) ,but is there a way to obtain birth records (without a fee) by using adoptive parents names? (i don't know birth parents names) My adoptive parents names are:
Father onald Irving Mother: Margaret Irving (maiden name-Hawley) I don't have much information except that I was born in San Jose, CA. on 5-9-61, I am a Female of Spanish/French descent and I believe I was born around 5 A.M. in the morning (single birth), if you can be of any asssistance, it would be greatly appreciated! Searching resources
Welcome to the Search and Reunion Message Board!
The Vital Search website can be accessed for free by using the "guest pass" option. Some years both the amended name and birth name is listed. Other years the birth name is listed but not the amended name or the amended name is listed but not the birth name. However, it is a useful search tool for many people. Wonder if you could help me out. I was born 3 April 1954 in Santa Monica, Ca. Birthmothers name was Jacqueline Feist. Birthfather unknown at this time although paperwork I have received indicates I was named "Baby boy Curtis" at birth. Birthmother passed away in 1997 and half siblings do not have any info regarding my BF. Birthmother took me home for a month or so then decided she couldn't cope. Adoption finalized May 1955. I have searched vital records and many other sites without success. I currently live in Europe but am considering traveling to Los Angeles to review records at the appropriate offices there. I am hoping the time gap between birth and adoption may ease my search for birth information.
You can email me privately at jdb_01@hotmail.com. Thanks for your help. David |

Petitioning
Since you have the birthfather's last name you might want to consider petitioning the court for a copy of your sealed adoption file to see if it has any additional information such as your birthfather's full name.
A California adoptee can petition the Superior Court in the county where the adoption was finalized. Generally there are two reasons that the court will consider as valid when giving permission to open a sealed adoption file; 1) if you information in your non-identifying report that you have American Indian heritage or 2) you have medical concerns/a medical condition that are possibly genetic in origin. When petitioning the Superior Court for your sealed adoption file be sure that you have done the following: contact the county courthouse where the adoption was finalized Check this website for Superior Court locations: http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/courts/trial/ request a copy of their petition form for their county. fill out the form giving all information requested attach a cover letter to the court giving your reasons for requesting that your file be opened and include your contact information; name, address, phone number and email address if you are petitioning for medical reasons attach a copy of a letter from your Dr. stating your medical issues if you are petitioning under the ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act) because you have American Indian heritage be sure and include a copy of your non-identifying information that states the ethnicity of your birth parents attach a copy of your driver's license have your signature on the petition form notarized before signing and mailing keep a copy of everything for your own records you might want to mail the petition request registered mail so that you will know that your request has been received California Website: Other great websites to check out: http://www.adoptionchat.com http://www.adoption.com http://www.adopting.org http://registry.adoption.com |
