Can someone give me some advice Please?
How do you go about a search with non Id info? I have for years been gathering all the info and have it...but how do you do a search for someone that you do not have a birthdate or marriage info or NAME for??? I am an adoptee from Ca. 10/01/67 DOB. I am stumped on how to proceed. I have limited info....but that was all the agency would give to me. Please advise. Thank you in advance.

Hi cjuarez -
I too was adopted in California and found some interesting information. I found that the amended birth certificate number is the same as the original birth certificate. I also found that the california birth index will only have the original birth. Therefore, you will not find your adopted name in the birth index because that would be duplicating the census (per se). That helped me alot. I had a search angel do the research and confirmed the information with the agency. However, my search angel is no longer working on searched anymore (cannot get ahold of him). If you can locate a birth index, it will narrow down the information that you have to work with. Good luck and let me know how it turns out. Duchie ![]() |

Welcome to the Search and Reunion Message Board! You might use the Google search engine and go to the Vitalsearch website for a listing of births in California. Some years both the adopted names and birth names are listed. However, some years the adopted name is listed but not the birth name or the birth name is listed but not the adopted name. The State of California changed it's reporting system a few times over the years so you may find both names or just find one of the names. Same situation
I was adopted in PA but my birthmom was from CA. PA is a notoriously difficult state to search in. I have the same limited info as you. One thing I knew was my birthmom's age and that she was a college student in PA. I got on classmates.com, bought the gold membership, and sent an email to every female in every area college who would have been in her class. I got a lot of supportive responses but no luck. But it may work for you.

What adoption agency facilitated your adoption? The information that you should receive...at the very least...is: A. Ages of birth parents at the time of relinquishment B. Marital status C. Other siblings born before the adoptee D. Physical description E. Ethnicity F. Occupation G. Education H. Information about aunts, uncles and grandparents I. Reason for relinquishment If the information that you have is a) information given to your adoptive parents at the time of relinquishment or b) more than 10 years old you should contact the agency and request updated information. Agencies are giving out much more comprehensive information today than they were years ago. If you recently requested your non-identifying information and the above information is not in your report you should contact the agency again and specifically ask for any of the missing information.
