DOB 3/16/50, Fresno, CA. ISO BMom/siblings
ISO any family - I was adopted at birth through an attorney - Leonard Meyers. Born in St. Agness Hospital, Fresno, CA. My adoptive parents - Grover & Frances Groves. My birth certificate shows me as Nore Helen Groves.
I was told that there were other children in the family, that my birthmother was from the Los Angeles area, and that I was adopted out due to an understandable situation (details available if requested). I'd like to know if anyone has any information about my birthmother and/or any siblings. |

help...
Iam too a CA adoptee, recently in reunion; have you read any of Search Guru's post re: starting your search?? She posted today re: CA searches. If you can't find the post, go under the "Members" tab and try to look her up that way. If you need help, you can PM me and I'll help as much as I can. I know the first thing she recommends is getting a copy of your birthparent's "non-identifying" information from the agency your adoption went through.
Another thing that really helped me was locating a "search angel" on the internet; these are people that just help adoptees reunite with their birthfamilies. Most just help because they too have been touched in some way by adoption. I was able to find my bfamily within 2 months with the help of an awesome search angel. Try www.vsn.org for help in finding someone to help. They often know the ins and outs that most people don't and have access to alot of resources. Hope that helps...Becka

I've posted the Califoria searching resources that were posted by thesearchguru. I also know an adoptee that contacted thesearchguru and was very pleased with her services and has been in a reunion with the bfamily.

Other siblings born before the adoptee D. Physical description E. Ethnicity F. Occupation G. Education H. Information about aunts, uncles and grandparents I. Reason for relinquishment ***Non-identifying information for birth parents*** The non-identifying information requested by a birth parent will have most or all of the following information about the adopting family: A. Ages of adopting parents at the time of adoption B. Other children, biological and adopted in the adoptive family C. Physical description of the adoptive parents D. Ethnicity of the adoptive parents E. Occupations of the adoption parents F. Education of the adoptive parents G. The report will also give the exact date of birth of the relinquished child ***Waiver for Consent to Contact Form*** The Waiver is a form that can be used by adoptees, relinquished siblings or birthparents to give their permission for contact should a waiver be filed by both parties. NOTE: If the name of the agency is not known, or if it was a private adoption, this office can be contacted for the above services: State of California Dept of Social Services, Adoptions 744 P Street MS 19-31 Sacramento CA 95814 Phone: 916-322-3778 Many blessings on your search journey, Colleen Buckner, THE SEARCH GURU Moderator for Search and Reunion Message Board California Adoption Genealogist thesearchguru@yahoo.com http://www.therighttoknow.info Other great websites to check out: http://www.adoptionchat.com http://www.adoptionlists.com http://www.adoption.com http://www.adopting.org http://www.adoptionregistry.com

Thanks for the great tips
I have no "agency" to contact as the adoption was handled by a private attorney, but an in the process of contacting the State of Ca social services, have registered at VSN, and was just contacted by a search angel - am crossing my fingers. Just hoping I didn't wait to long to really do this - I'm 53 and there's a good chance my bMom isn't around. Thanks Again Nore |
