i800 help

Hi, stressed a bit. We were told we were approved to adopt from Bulgaria and able to use our 1600a (grandfathered in). Now to find they made a mistake and we need to fill out the 1800a at the request of Bulgaria. So I have a question; one question says to write what preadoption requirements including relevant Stte sttues and regulations. What steps we have taken to comply with these requirements? We were told to take education classes and read books! What about you guys out there, we are from Michigan and i dont know what the State statutes are? help anyone Thanks

Here's what I put:

"All pre-adoptive state requirements for the State of Michigan have been met. Please refer to the attached home study for details."

I800 question

If your I600A was still up to date, why did you have to switch to an I800. This worries me because we too are grandfathered and just requested that they change our country to Bulgaria. If we need the I800, I'd rather start it now than lose more time.
Thanks

We got a letter from the US government saying they made an error. They entered our paperwork in their system as April 21st and the deadline was April 1st then you had to do the I800A. I wouldn't worry about it unless you hear something.

Mom4three: Just thought I would throw out there that I am a Michigander as well... nice to know there are others nearby (hopefully not to far) who are adopting from Bulgaria... maybe once our kiddos come home we could form a play group or something!

BTW, I think I left that section blank or stated "I have met all State Requirements"... is it taking a long time to get processed? I think my I-800 took about 5-6 weeks from the time I sent it in...

Take care,

Yvonne

yvonne, that would be awesome to get together when our child is finally home. What age are you adopting? We are on the west side of the state but have family on the east side.

Sorry I have not replied... I have a son who is almost three and the child I am adopting is slightly older than he is... I would love to get together.... I have family on the west side but live on the south east corner.
