Question Agencies and Information

Hello Everyone, I'm looking for information and first hand experience on the following agencies:
  1. Hopscotch Adoptions
  2. Holt International
  3. Tree of Life Adoption Agency
  4. Wasatch International Adoption
  5. Adoption Avenues
  6. About A Child
  7. Kids to Adopt
I'm also interested in hearing from families that have completed an adoption in the past year or two.

Please email me privately at gemini82@care2.com, please put Bulgaria in the subject line in case it goes to my spam folder so I won't delete.

Bulgaria

My daughter made her first trip to Russia a few weeks ago and is awaiting a court date, she didn't use any of the Agencies you listed but her experience was very positive and I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

Please remember to PM or email any details, recommendations, suggestions etc. regarding agencies. You cannot post these on the board.

Thanks!

Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I'll add my request to it so I don't clutter the board with a separate thread.

My wife & I are looking to adopt internationally. We completed an adoption from Vietnam in May 2007 and are looking to add a son to the family. We would love to hear from others who have adopted, or are in the process of adoption, from Bulgaria. Would like to get any recs for agencies (PM of course!) and any other things we should know before starting the process. We would be open to a child up to age 4. Have heard there is a new sheriff in charge and referrals could start picking up in the not-to-distant future.

Would appreciate any and all news, thoughts, tips, etc. from those who have chosen Bulgaria.

I am considering adopting from Bulgaria. I would appreciate any information anyone can provide. Especially agencies, wait times, things to consider, etc... anything that will help in my journey. (Please PM or e-mail)

Thanks,

Yvonne

Can I jump on the bandwagon with the others looking for info on agencies, wait times, etc. Or, if the others above me have received any info can you pass it on to me?

Anything would be greatly appreciated.

My daughter is adopting from Russia. Are you interested in Russia? She is single and the Agency she used is very singles friendly, also she requested a boy and there are shorter wait times for boys. She got her referral quickly and made her first trip approximately 1 month after her referral. We are currently waiting for a Court date so she can complete her adoption. I emailed the Agency information to another person on this blog and will be happy to do the same for you, keeping in mind that the wait time for girls is much longer, 8-10 months I think.

Our agency has received 2 referrels this month. Both families submitted their paperwork this year. They received quick referrels because they were open to sibling groups or a child with medical correction needs.
When I checked into agencies they were saying the wait was between 12-18months to receive a referrel for a healthy child. If you want a boy it will be a shorter wait, as there are more boys available. Young healthy girls are the longest referrels.
We have submitted our dossier to Bulgaria and are presently being reviewed to be registered. Once registered we are being told about 12 months for a healthy boy under 2yrs old. Hope this anwered your questions.

Bulgaria

Mom4three.

Did you happen to go through St. Mary's or All God's Children?

Thank you.

Seems Bulgarian adoptions are up and running rather smoothly at this point. We just started and are hoping for a boy under 2 and we were told 18 mths max...but girls are actually a longer wait. Now granted that doesn't include sibling groups or SN kids ..those of course would come more quickly..as well as older children
