How long till Bulgaria starts referring?
I've heard it could be as long as 1 1/2 - 2 years for a referral. Has anyone heard anything different?

It depends on the age you request. I have been looking at an older child adoption (6 year old female) and was told that could be as quick as 9 months to complete, but that infants/toddlers typically take 2 years. PM me if you'd like the agency info.

We have heard everything from 6 months to 2 years. I think the truth is that they have no idea. It seems like they are still processing old dossiers and have not gotten to any from 2008.
I too have heard and seen that it differs bassed on the type of child you are open to adopting. Because BG went through such a slow time there are many toddlers and young children who desperately need homes before entering school and those children are given priority right now for homes that can take them.

I'm hoping for 18 months....but am prepared for a 2 year wait. Just hope it's no longer than that!

My husband and I sent in our paperwork 2 years ago this month and have not received a referral yet. The registration date of our dossier is in November 2006 and they are insistant that it will be this year and I am hoping that it is the case but have nothing to support. If a referral is received I will be sure to let you know.

2 referrels have been received through my agency TOL, and someone mentioned that their agency had received a referrel as well. Can't remember what agency it was though. If you want a child over 4, special needs or sibling group it is going faster than 12 months.
