Post Interesting...

This is an excerpt from an article from Focus English News:

Quote:
A considerable drop has been observed in comparison to May when chances of both countries were valued at 90% and 80% respectively. The skepticism of the observers stems from the political instability, which according to them undermines the governments in Bucharest and Sofia.
Our Bulgarian neighbors showed obvious inability to form a government and after a while the situation started resembling a political soap opera. According to the same observers Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu’s stuttering, President’s needless interventions and the game of early election reduce our chances for EU accession by half. The actions of our politicians left a certain impression on EU institutions and created a feeling of continuous political instability that is unacceptable for a country, which has taken on responsibility to complete reforms in only 18 months. All of this suggests and requires complete seriousness, stability of institutions and succession of legislation.

It gave me to think that they really do need to get their various ducks in order...including a smooth foreign adoption process...to prove their political/social stability.

That just seemed promising to me.

Any thoughts?

Focus News

Hi
I don't know really how to take the news. I know it has been unstable for a while but I was under the impression that since the "new government" is in place that all things should looking up for the adoption process. It still does not seem that the adoptions are moving but I hope that soon starts for everyone!

U.S. Consulate in Bulgaria website

I was purousing around trying to find some more news about how things are progressing and noticed that Los Ninos has closed their program (for now anyway...I am not sure if this was a recent thing or has been closed for awhile) for Bulgaria and cited the U.S. Consulate in Bulgaria website.

I have to agree that that site does make things sound rather grim for the process in Bulgaria. However, I have addressed this matter with my agency in Bulgaria before...when a high ranking member had addressed a potential adoptive parents' question earlier this year...my agency felt that things would start moving and that things were NOT as grim as the U.S. Consulate was saying.

So, who knows in the end. I figure with the approximate timeline I was given that I should have a referral in April...so that is what I am going to hold on for...hopefully things will start moving and that estimation will become more plausible...I have not received notification of being accepted by the MOJ yet...I expect to hear that somewhere between October 3 and October 10.

Wish everyone the best!

love Bulgaria but unsure

To be honest, I don't really understand the article that was posted. I am new to this process. I do know that in researching international adoption, I really did fall in love with what I learned about Bulgaria. I feel a very strong, intuitive pull there. I am considering sending an app into an agency but am trying to be cautious and realistic as well. The director of the agency is Bulgarian so this gives me hope. If anyone has info or advice regarding the process or agencies, please PM me!?
