Bulgaria Status

Hello,

I was just on an agency site that indicated that they were again receiving referrals from Bulgaria (for families working with their agency). Can someone tell me if Bulgaria is a country we should be considering for adoption? We are hoping to adopt in the age 3-5 group and have a 5 year old biological son. Also, any tips that you can provide on the whole process will be appreciated. Finally, any agency advise, please PM to me or directly to; kevinh@bigsandybb.com.

Thank you. Kevin.

Referrals

Kevin, for a short period of time - May - Juneish, there were some referrals coming through. Since the elections occurred in June, I know of no referrals, and the information I received from my Bulgarian attorneys was that it would be fall at the earliest before the would receive a referral. Once they do receive some, they expect it to be very slow. I cannot recommend Bulgaria at this time.

You might want to call the agency that said they were receiving referrals and ask if that is still true.

Good luck,
Kay

Our agency received a referral of a healthy child the second week in July but they are still cautioning people that things are still moving slowly. Their lawyers also think that no one can predict what will happen (ie if things will run smoother) until fall.
