Thumbs up roll call for BG

Hi everyone who is currently in the process of adopting from Bulgaria, check in and let us know some info on your progress.
I returned with my son in September and am registered with the MOJ again, wondering how the newcomers are doing?

Hello, We started in June of 2003, We are hoping that our paper work got through on Thursdays meeting (DEC 2ND). With Monday being a holiday, we won't know until Wednesday. We have spent 6 weeks with our daughter over the last year, It has been a long wait. She is an older child. She is old enough to understand what is going on and is frustrated too. This is our second international adoption. The first being from Romania.

Let me try this again. I have my two boys hanging all over me. We sent our dossier to our agency about three weeks ago. She tells us that it is being translated. So I guess we are in the waiting phase to be registered. We started our adoption journey in August for a little girl.
It is so good to see the Bulgaria adoption boards getting a little more active. I wish everyone my best wishes for a speedy adoption.

In process

Hi Vicki,
That is so great that you are going back. After all that you went thru it gives me courage to hope.

We started the process in May when we found out that there was a special special needs child(had same thing as my daughter) in Bulgaria and we got dossier together and over to Bulgaria, translated and legalized by July 29th 2004(minus INS letter). We sent the INS stuff and had it recerted in early Sept and then they asked for another letter(mental status) in late Sept.

Still waiting but think it will be soon. Was told they are trying to get the SN kids out that need treatment.

Hi Dpug, Nicole, and Mary,
I will keep al of you in my prayers for speedy adoptions(if there is such a thing as a speedy adoption..)
Doug it must be hard for your daughter who understands what is going on to not be with her "forever" family yet. Is the orphanage director working with you and allowing you to send letters/calls etc? I really hope so!
There are so many children over there needing families' I do not want anyone to get discouraged bu misinformation indicating that there are more parents waiting than their are children...those of us who have traveled there and adopted before know that is untrue.
We must all hang in there, our children will be home with us soon!
Stay in touch everyone on your progress or questions or even advice `!!!!!
Vicki

Hi - I've been lurking on this board for a few months. We are waiting on FBI prints to send our dossier over. We have a 7 year old bio daughter, hoping for another little girl. Glad to see more people on this site!

Unhappy

Hi All!

I have not posted on this board before. My husband and I are going for two children at once between the ages of 1-4.

Our paperwork is pretty much in alignment with Mary's.

I am still waiting to hear back from my agency about our medicals and prints, but it sounds like we need to redo them, so I will probably start this week or next.

Does anyone know if the country shuts down for the Xmas holiday? Most European countries get several weeks off around this time.

-Amy

Hi Amy,
Yes I remember from last year that the MOJ shut down from the middle of December until I believe the second week of January.
Same thing occurs in August...........

Hi, all!
I'm new here, first post ever!
My husband and I are just getting ready to apostille. I hope it does not take too long, I would like to have everything in Bulgaria before the holiday break. How long does it take to get registered? We are new to all this. We have 4 biological children, 3 teen agers and one 20 month old. We hope to adopt a 0-15 month boy or girl with possible mild correctable medical need. The process is scary and it sure requires to have faith that God will allow everything in His perfect timing and not mine! (My husband is better at accepting this than I am.) I was wondering, have any of you messed with the birth order thing that the social workers advise against, just in case we are referred a child older than our youngest.
Looking forward to hearing reports from you all on referrals!
Blessings,
Maria

Hi Maria,
Congratulations on finishing your papework, that alone is overwhelming. It is har to say how long it takes to get registered. First your documents need to get translated, them your attorney can file them. Who are you working with?
It really should not be that long though.
I have adopted three times and it was always out of order and it worked fine, the kids adjust. Our children range from 18years old to the baby who is 3.
Keep us posted on your progress!
Vicki

Talking It's a BOY!!!!

I am pleased to let you all know that I got the email this evening and in it was a picture of the most gorgeous little boy. 28 months and just what we asked for. We will travel mid January(due to my schedule). I am tempted to accept without the visit. Can't wait to get him home. I can't wait to show my other kids their new brother. I feel like my pregancy test just came back positive.
