Is it possible without pumping?

Hi ladies! I've just started doing research on adoptive breastfeeding and have spent some time reading through your posts. Congrats to all of you!

I have what I feel is a selfish question...is it possible to breastfeed an adopted child without pumping?

A bit about my situation: I have breastfed in the past (my two bio sons). Our first adopted child will most likely be between 6 and 24 months old by the time we meet for the first time. I'm unsure if the fact that I have successfully breastfed before or the age of our adopted child will make a difference in the need to pump.

Thanks for any thoughts, advice, feedback...

-Carey

Neither of those things really matter in the success of ABF. If anything, the fact there would be no milk, makes it less likely with an older baby. A full supply definitely helped my son latch. If you are going to use an SNS or a Lactaid, then yes, you could conceivably do that.

I think it would be hard to do without pumping at all to help get your supply up because a child that age has much larger needs than an newborn.
