Hello, I have been reading for awhile now and yall ladies give me great hope. We happen decided yet if we will adopted from overseas or from a domestic agency that have special needs infants but when we do, yall will help me with the breastfeeding process.
I found an article yesterday and thought it would be helpful. It was in the Oct. 09 issue of Parents magazine. The Journal of Perinatology found that they can dramatically increase their production if they don't just rely on electric pumps but also use their hands. Mothers who hand-expressed colostrum more than 5 times a day for 3 days, then used a hands-on pumping technique along with an electric pump... The suction of an electric pump can't remove all the colostrum and milk on its own. I hope this helps someone. Keep up the good work and I wish yall lots of luck & milk.

I have been pumping for 6 or 7 days. I made it to 142ccs yesterday. I am already ahead today I think. :-) I started pumping and was already breastfeeding though, so I already had some milk. Hoping to pass 5 ounces (150ccs) today!!

Oh...I pump with a double electric pump (but I ususally single pump) and then I hand express and go back and forth until I seem to be empty.

wow! good for you! did you adopt again or are you waiting right now?

how long do you ladies pump for each time? i am trying for 10 minues every 2-3 hours when i am home. i hope 10 minutes is log enough. i ant remember where i read that but i think its good!
as of last night, drops were making it into the collection bottle! when i pumped through the night, i was laying down and mil was running out down my stomach. definately increasing every day!

We are waiting right now. I am hoping I will have a full supply like I did with my son.

Your breasts will empty better if you are sitting up and gravity can help. Just FYI. ;-)

how are things going? crick, how is your suply coming along? i am getting more and more each day. Drops are getting to be steady and today, after only being able to pump 4 times, I have less than an ounce in each cup but 2 days ago was the first time I even got drops in the holding bottle so very excited!

yay for 5 ounces! I am working towards 1! haha. After 6 days, i feel like that s not too bad!
Question re finding time to pump. Some days, I am only able to pump 4 times. We are so busy and with working too, its really tough to try to pump every 3 hours. Does anyone else have this problemo???

Oh, I am saving my collection tonight! I figure, I might as well start saving now that I am getting more than just drops in the collection cup!

For sure trying to find the time to pump has been a challenge! I am wanting a clean house for the baby and also am desperate to keep my 2yo happy! I figured that at 12-14 times a day at 15-29 per time - -well that is 3-5 hours! Wow!

When I am home, I am trying to do every 2-3 hours and once in the night.
I froze my first ounce last night!!!

I am still only getting the tiniest of puddles at the bottom of the collection cup

AND the baby was born yesterday. He e won't be released till maybe tomorrow. Things are totally weird right now, and very surreal.

Wow, life must be surreal for you right now!! Have you been spending lots of time at the hospital? Are you breastfeeding him there?
I have heard that once baby is on, the milk production will speed up.

I am easily getting one ounce per day now after pumping between 4 and 7 times a day. I cant find time to get more in. Hopefully that will be ok for now!

Tink, how is breastfeeding going for you??? I hope ok!

I am up to an ounce and a half per day now! Most of it, though, is coming out of one side. I am gettig about half and ounce at the most out of the other side. Not sure why so lopsided...Any ideas why would be good!
