While the birthparents may agree that you breastfeeding is for the childs benefit, it is a painful affront to a woman whose breasts are leaking with no baby to feed. This is not to be maan, this is just to say that it may be taken all wrong. This happened to me. When I went to see my daughter in the hospital, the amom proceeded to nurse her RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I was so hurt and angry, I didn't know what to do....it felt so strange to me...to know that I gave birth to her just hours before, and that this woman thought it okay to nurse my daughter in front of me. I think my mouth just fell open. There was formula there, and I really wish she would have spared my feelings, even if it was for the baby.

That is a really good point. It can be easy in the excitement of getting your new bundle of joy to forget about the feelings of the birthmother. I can see where that would have been very painful for you.
