Adoptive breastfeeding still possible in menopause?
I was wondering if for a woman in menopause is still possible to bf an adopted child. Thanks in advance for your help.

I am in surgically-induced menopause, and my doctor said, yes, it is "possible." Now, she can't promise anything of course. But with the proper hormones and the use of a hospital grade electric pump, my doctor said it was, indeed possible. In fact, I am hoping to give it a try myself. I'd see your gyn about it.

You don't need ovaries to make breast milk...you can be post menopausal and still induce lactation..

Wow, this is great! I had a total hyst. when I was only 23years old, now 31, we have a surrogate going to carry our baby, and soooo desperately want to breast feed, not only for the nutrician,(which is very important also though), but ULTIMATELY the bond! This has been one of my questions regarding this also.

Great to hear this. I wasn't so lucky either. total Hyst at 16 and we are planning on adopting and i might want to do it the more time goes by. My son I couldn't he had really bad acid reflux that nearly killed him so his food had to be thickens so much (like honey) there was no way to BF him. (He is from surrgancy, SAD all my frozen eggs went to make him) Better 1 then none. We are now almost ready for our other precious children.

I hope this isn't against the rules here. The BEST method of inducing lactation is the Newman-Goldfarb protocols. I'm exclusively breastfeeding my adopted triplets after using the accelerated protocol. Go to asklenore.com. As far as menopause, I don't know, but I do know that Lenore was far more informative than any GYN I've ever asked about the subject!
