trying to induce lactation...where's the milk?
I've just stopped the accelereated protocal a week ago and have been pumping/using the lact-aid 12-16 times a day. I've started the herbs and began eating oatmeal everyday. I'm also still using the domperidone. Why haven't I seen any sign of milk yet. Does this mean all my efforts are useless ....or does it take a little while longer in some people. I feel like everything I do...isn't working for some reason. Do you have any advice? I really want to make this work.

The first thing to remember is that no pump is ever going to stimulate your breasts like a real live baby. They just don't work as well. The next thing is that it does take time. When I started pumping I only got some vague moisture after two whole weeks! That moisture gradually became drops then sprays but that took a couple of months. Once you start getting oz production seems to go up faster but the beginning is veeeeeery slow.

thank you
I'm finally at the drop/spray faze. I only get a drop or two when I pump but when I manually express at times I can get a spray about 7 times then it turns into drops. I haven't measured the amount yet...it really doesn't seem like much....but I'm sure when my baby is nursing she is getting much more than what i can get out myself.
I've been really busy again and have not been pumping in between times....so i'm only nursing with the nurser about 6-7 times a day and once at night. I'm sure if i added the pumping in between times my quantity will increase. Thanks for your help!!! Jessica |

Hi
Some women do not make a full supply with the accelerated protocol...that being said...it takes about 3 days for the hormones from the bcp to get out of your body.(some even say 1 week) ..so noone should worry if they dont see milk for the first couple of days..you can pump after the baby nurses...or...pump the opposite breast as the baby is nursing...but the babies sucking should be stimulating your milk supply enough, esp if the baby is latched correctly.. Make sure you have a certified lactation consultant check the babies latch, just to make sure..sounds like you are doing a great job!!
