adopting infants remote
Just thought you all should know what a Brazilian adoption lawyer recently told me:
To be quiet frank, the possibility of a foreign couple/applicant adopting an infant is remote. CEJA prepares and maintains a list of the children to be adopted and another list for the applicants. Except for Brazilian couples (to whom priority in adoptions is granted), the order of the applications is strictly respected independently of the applicants’ familiarity with the country. As Brazilian couples clearly prefer to adopt infants (children aged 0-1 year) and they are granted priority, whenever an infant is included in the list, he/she is immediately chosen by a Brazilian couple (just for you to have an idea, whenever an infant is included in the list, in 1 hour it is chosen by a Brazilian couple). |

Hello everyone! Right now I am helping a friend go through the adoption process in Brasil and so far everything is running very smoothly. Sure, Brasilians get firsts and most want the babies, but there are also plenty of people who want toddlers and are now opening their hearts to older children too! We just need to research alot, have faith and speak to the right people (people who actually WANT to help, have time to help and have more interest in seeing a family together rather than just getting money in their hands). Good luck to everyone who is planning on adopting in Brasil. As I have read before in many posts, there is indeed alot of paper work but it is all in the benefit of the child and their future with loving parents.

What about couples where one applicant is Brazilian?

the same situation. My fiance is American and I am Brazilian and we looked for information. Kids available to international adoption are older than 2 or with special needs or sibling groups.
So, if your preference is a baby, Brazil is not the best place to look |
