I am looking for my mother's half twin brothers.

They were born Brad and Bruce Dear in 1963 in the East/Northeast Texas area .

The birth mother was Dawn Pierce and the birth father was Burt Dear. Dawn married a guy named AB John Elkins who was 16 years older than her. She was 37 and did not think they could raise he boys.

The twins were put up for adoption before Aug. 1965.

We are desperate to find the Twins !!!

Dawn had a total of 5 boys and 1 girl. We have found them all but the twins !!!

Hmm, I am unable to locate any twins born to anyone named Dawn Pierce, for that or any other year. That may mean they are listed under their adopted names.. do you know what city/county they were born in and what their birthdate is?

PM me or post here and I'll check ancestry.com again if you have BDs and city/county. I just need to look for male twins born on that day in Texas.

We really don't know any more info yet. My mother and I are going to meet Dawn's sister in a couple of weeks.

We found out that the boys were put up for adoption when they were 16 - 18 mo. old. Probably spring of 1965.

They would have almost been too old to have their first names changed ? I would think ?

We don't know if they were adopted out together or not.

Texas can be odd.

If mom was married at placement - they could be under her husbands name.

If the boys had their fathers last name, they could be under dad's name.

I am listed on the Texas Birth Index with my birth mothers husbands information...

Consider a number of different combinations when searching the index...the person who gave me that information a long time ago was pretty shocked...

Okay, this is what I did to try to locate them in the index...

I pulled up all the baby boys with the first name Brad that were born in Texas in 1963. There were only 70 (there were hundreds of Bruce's). I took that list and ran all the same last names with the name Bruce instead of Brad for a first name, looking for a Bruce that was born the same day as a Brad. I did not locate any.

This could just mean that they are not listed in the Texas Birth Index under their birthnames.

Anyone else have any ideas?

If they've had their birth certificates amended (which they most likely have, if they were adopted) then searching the index for their birth name won't work...

You can search county, dob, gender - and likely come up with 2 boys born same day, same county - but it will require a lot of weeding out.

I was lucky - in that I knew the man's name listed on my OBC - so when they sent me the list of possible matches, I was able to pick very easy.

Going on so little information is hard...I wish I had more advice.

I forgot to mention - you might search using the last names given here - sometimes, when they amend the OBC - they are listed different on the index.

yea, using the last names was the first thing I did, actually. Absolutely no matches to Dear, Dawn Pierce, or even just using Dawn as mother's first name.

And OP doesn't have county or dob... so unless there's any more specific info, they are going to be hard to find..

I have a paid membership to ancestry.com. That's where I can view it. I can't link what I see to you, because you won't be able to access it (I believe). I can only cut and paste what I see on here. If I had found a match for you, I would have pasted it here, but there's just no match that I can find so far. You can go to their website and see what you can access. I don't remember what non-members can access.
