7/22/64, F. Adoptee, Bay City, Tx, Searching for any member of birthfamily

Just reposting to keep my information "out there." Born 7/22/64, 1:43am, Matagorda County Hospital, Bay City, Texas to "Bonnie?" 15/16 year old from Florida; who came to Port Lavaca, Tx to stay with an Aunt during her pregnancy. Father was supposedly a college freshman. Adoption was arranged privately through a law firm in Port Lavaca. I need medical history, if at all possible. Thank you.

DES too?

I'm a fellow searcher, too. Have you done the Texas registry?

I'm needing med info as well and I keep hitting brick walls in trying to find anything out. There are no non-id records listed with the state of Tx. only the original birth certificate.

What all have you been able to find?

Texas Information

Hi there,
If your adoption was handled through a private agency, or law firm, there will be no non-id, however, if it was a social services case (i.e. taken from a parent by the government) there will be non-id. Try contacting Pat Molina at the Texas State Registry, she's terrific and very "user-friendly." her e-mail is "Patricia Molina" <Patricia.Molina@tdh.state.tx.us> and she's pretty much in charge of that whole side of the shebang. She couldn't help me much, as my adoption was privately arranged, but I enjoyed speaking with her and she might have some ideas for you. And I'm listed in the Registry should anyone ever try looking for me, so it's worth doing. Don't forget to register at the ISRR!

You might also try checking in the vital statistics records (most are listed on the Internet) just in case your birth was listed twice (once at birth, once on completion of the adoption). Unfortunately, my adoption was arranged before I was born, so all the paperwork was in place for the birth registry, and I was only listed under my adopted name. Try looking in the newspapers from when you were born as well, if you can get to the library in that town, to see if there were any listings for your birth. Good luck!

Same boat as you

I'm in the same boat you are. Pre-arranged, private adoption,

10/31/64, Bay City-Wharton area. The kinks are a common last name that may not be real, dead lawyer, defunct hospital.

Do you have your original birth certificate? I think you would have to go through the same judge as I do, Sklar in Wharton. Or is Bay City in Wharton Co.?

I'm going to write the attorney's brother who is also an attorney to see if he took over the practice.

Already did all the other stuff.

Do you have the aunt's name? If you do you could run a check on real property that might yield some clues.

Good luck with your search.

Hi

Unfortunately, my adoption was arranged in Port Lavaca, Texas, so I have to go through the Calhoun County system. The library in Bay City does have a lot of records that you can dig through yourself, though. I did make one trip, but didn't find anything. My godfather, the lawyer who arranged the adoption, was VERY thorough, bless him (definitely being said through gritted teeth!) Anyway, I haven't had much time lately to do anything with this, but I've nearly got the papers ready to file with the court to try and open my records as I need medical information. Good luck!
