wf born 7/16/64 looking for any family
I am a wf, that was "privately adopted" by a couple in NJ. I have a "fake" hospital birth certificate listing my adoptive parents, so I am not sure where I really may have been born. My guess would be the north east somewhere. I was told I may have an older brother, perhaps born in 1960-1962. Any of this sound familiar?

Could you have possibly been born in the northwest (Washington)? Have you ever lived there or do you have any connections there? I am a birthmom looking for daughter born 7/16/64 in Tacoma, WA. Thank you.

I do not know. I believe my parents found me through a friend who "knew" someone that could get them a child. I'm not certain what their connections were and they are deceased, so there is no way for me to find out. I would imagine the number of people born on any given day and adopted out would be only a few. Did you go through a state agency or was it done "privately?"

I stayed at a maternity home called Faith Home in S. Tacoma, WA, and they handled the adoption. I can't find any info re this organization, so assume it no longer exists. I've been in contact with "WARM" in WA state, and hopefully they will be able to help me research further. (I had no other children, so there would not have been an "older brother". Have you ever been to, or heard about any possible connection to Washington state?)

I'm afraid that I don't have any idea if my parents had any connection to Washington. As far as I understood it was actually a family friend that had the connections that led them to me. That friend, Jean Pickering, I believe her name was, is also deceased. My mother refused to discuss any details with me and the information I did receive was when I was still a youth, so it would not suprise me if I am mistaken about the possible sibling. Perhaps I could send you a few pictures and you might/might not see if I have any family resemblance. Unfortunately, I do not have any solid information aside from my birthdate. But I would imagine that there are a limited number of children that were born that same day, are female, and were adopted privately. So statistically at least, it may be possible that we are connected, despite my being raised in New Jersey. May I ask, why are you looking?

Well, I guess I haven't previously searched because I didn't want to intrude or disrupt my daughter's life, and all along was hoping that she would try to find me. Also, I think I've always had a fear of being rejected, should I make an attempt. Now, I'm hoping that I won't be intruding, hoping that I won't be rejected. . . it's time for me to reach out and find my daughter, whom I've thought about so much these many years.

Well, unfortunately for me, I have no solid information. I only began looking these last couple of years, for the many of the same reasons. I also worried that she would wind up more disfunctional then the parents that raised me and to be honest, I didn't want anymore of that. I have so little to work with aside from my birthdate that it is virtually impossible for me to make progress on my end. Perhaps if WARM doesn't locate someone else, it may be me you're looking for. I don't know what other steps to take.

Gosh, it must be really difficult for you, not even knowing for sure where you were born -- I've always thought that birth place (like birth date) was something that could not be changed. . . I mean, you were born where you were born, right? Have you registered with ISRR (International Soundex Reunion Registry)? I have, and I've also just sent a request to WA state for an "uncertified copy" of my daugher's birth certificate. You previously mentioned sending me a couple of photos? That might be helpful. . .. ;-)
