If you remember, I am also iso a birthsibling in the state of Georgia. Since my last pm to you, there's a couple of things I've learned in regards to Georgia's Adoption Laws. For one, the Adoptive Mother may change the original D.O.B. by up to 2 years, ( may be 1 but I believe it's 2), the location of birth may be changed to that of the Adoptive Mother showing that the adopted child was born where she lives. So based on those things, it may help to broaden your search a bit. I am going to pm you with what information I have in regards to the Georgia Adoption Reunion Registry. I hope this helps you. Just as an afterthought, do you know where the BirthMom is from? I also learned that the town my BirthMom is from has older newspapers in archive, some original and some on microfilm, at the local Probate Office. If you know, there could possibly be a birth announcement there. But it's my understanding that for women that wasn't married, their births may not have been published. It's a long shot but may be worth a shot. Best of luck to you on your search.

Thanks for the additional information! We have located on micro fiche @ the library in the county she was born and adopted from one article and a photo of her with a foster mother. That was actualy where our search began in 1983 and little else since. He was able to get a name of someone who worked for the state and was likely to recall certain details or offer some type of help. He spoke with her briefly and had planned to speak with her again on his next leave from the military. She had promised to find out what type of information she could give at that time. But his brother died tragically in a motorcycle accident the day he came home so things again where put off. When again he began to search his contact had recently married and had left the state leaving no forwarding address. Ironicaly he did have a connection there when he searched the library. Seems the librarian knew the family that had fostered my husband and his brother during that same period. When she asked for his name, she became excited and said I need to call someone who has been waiting to see you since you left her home at the age of 4. Upon being reunited he was able to piece together vague memories of the nearly 2 years she kept him. They told him that they had knowledge of where his sister went just after birth because she was given to a family they were kin to and also had the same last name, but no one knew where she went when adopted or with whom.
Sorry for being so long winded. I just wanted to say thanks for the reply and our searches go on. Christy |
