It doesn't sound like an open adoption. It sounds like a semi-open ie the first mother and the APs have contact information - is that right? If your son is turning 18 then you can contact him without going through his parents - have you found him on facebook? I'd drop him a message on facebook and stay you'd like to get to know him. But be prepared for him to no reply. I've been in reunion with my bdaughter since she was a young teen and it's been on and off for the last six years so good luck.

Sounds like you are talking about a semi open adoption at the least, since in an open I would assume since there is open contact, nothing would change.
I'm in a sem open adoption and I've wondered the same thing, since my daughter is almost 18 as well. I was going to talk to her mom about it since we have contact, but she beat me to it and mentioned that she has been thinking we should be introduced soon. I don't know if it has to do with her 18th birthday, the fact that she's graduating high school, the fact that almost four years things have progressed since our adoption was re-opened to contact, if she's been asking about me, who knows? Give me a couple of months and I'll let you know what happens ![]() Do you have contact with your son's parents? Can you talk to them about it? If not, maybe it's best to wait until he turns 18 and contact him directly. Be prepared for anything tho, just because they turn 18, doesn't always mean they are ready. Keep us posted!
