Holidays, visits, presents, etc.

The holidays are coming up and I know it can be especially painful to be away from your placed child during the holidays. So I wanted to check in with everyone now that the holidays are upon us and see how you all are doing? I'd also love to hear about any upcoming visits and what you plan on giving your placed child as a Christmas gift.

We have a visit planned with our son and his family December 15th and I'm really excited. We haven't seen each other since June, the summer is so busy for all of us. I have not started Christmas shopping yet and am not sure what to get T for Christmas. His older sister is easy - gift cards so she can buy what she wants.

No. No visits because of health and other timing issues. Not really pleased but nothing can be done. I just hope to get presents mailed on time!!

M and her parents will be here on Friday and will be here just over a week.

I am pretty stoked...we're gonna do Thanksgiving and have lots of fun.

Then the plan is for us to head out there for Christmas - then M will come here for Spring Break.

I had all of my Christmas shopping done months ago - Yay!

(((HUGS)))) sorry to hear that you won't be able to make a visit Jenna. What did you get Munchkin and her family for Christmas? Do you buy gifts just for Munchkin or for all the family members?

Hope you are feeling okay, was reading your blog this morning.

Brandy - awesome!! Do you have anything "fun" planned for the Thanksgiving visit? Do you have any family traditions that you will share with M and her family at either Thanksgiving or Christmas?

As for you having all your presents bought - psstt! Talk to the hand as the kids used to say. No, seriously, I admire your organization and forethought. What did you get M for Christmas? Same question as I asked Jenna - do you buy for the whole family or just M?

Nah, we don't have any real plans - just kinda fly by the seat of our pants.

I buy for all of them (3) - and because I know the adults read here - I won't share what I got them - but I will share what I got M - she wanted an Nintendo DS Lite so I got her that and some books, ya know, to counteract the damage the DS will do

Lucky M - what books did you get her? I think M is around the same age as T's sister. I am going to get her a gift card as she wants, but would like to get her something else and I think books are the best gift.

The Traveling Pants series of books...she's 11, will be 12 this winter.

Honestly, I went for cover candy - I liked the covers...I hope they'll work for her.

She's in AP Reading - so the level should be fine - but now that I think about it, maybe it might be to grown up.

Great titles - I have read the first one. I can't remember anything that might have been inappropriate in it, but it's been a while. T's sister will be 13 in May, so I might look at getting her those books as well.

I am hoping for a visit. I have to call sometime, either that or I will send a card to Supergirl for Thanksgiving and send a note in there for L.
I am almost done. I have some sweatshirts, books and a friend is making her a bag with her name on it.

Leigh - will be crossing my fingers for you and your visit. I know that would just make your Christmas so special.

Great presents!! I would love to see a pic of the bag your friend is making her. I know she will love the gifts.
