Hi everyone,
I was hoping someone could help me with a little problem. My daughter was adopted coming to a year in three weeks. I am very close with the aparents and since they live a half hour away I can visit anytime I want. My bdaughter is turning one but I am not sure what I want to give her for her first b-day. For christmas I got her one of those snow globes with with winnie the pooh inside and it moves, from the disney store and a carebear that my daughter picked out for her. I started the collection of snow globes and now everyone gives her a different character snow globe from the disney store every now and then. Now I am not so sure what I want to give her for her first b-day. I want it to be special and am trying to get creative, but I just can't come up with ideas. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks ahead of time to anyone who can help me. Josefina ![]() |

Josefina,
Another bmom on this site (Volfe) is planning on giving her bdaughter a homemade book about her two families (adoptive and birth). There is a thread about it somewhere.... I often get my bdaughter books. I was a lit major in college and worked in the kids' section of a book store for a while, and I've got pretty good taste in kids' lit... if you want recommendations..... (One year old is not too young to get them started!!!!!! )You could also do a little scrapbook.... include your family tree, hospital pics, pics of you and her and afamily (if you want), write a letter to her and put it in the scrapbook.... could be very small (know you don't have much time). Or... how are you with computers? Do you have Photoshop? You could do photo montage of you and her on the computer..... If you are artistic, you could draw or paint a pic.... use a pic you already have as your reference.... Or the build-a-bear thing... there are stores you can go to where you get to design your own teddy bear-- you decide how much to stuff it, what to dress it in, etc. You could do one for her and a matching one for you, and write a little note to her letting her know that you have the other bear. Just throwing things out off the top of my head. Hope you find something! Nicole |

I'm not sure, but at one I'm not planning to give anything sentimental. I'm planning on an age appropriate toy. I recently discovered scrapbooking, and love it! I want to do a scrapbook also of her 2 families when she's a bit older and will appreciate it more. Otherwise at one it seems more like a gift to her parents. JMO.
I like the bear idea!
