Birthmoms I need help!!

HI, I have an odd request from all bmoms......I would like to know if you had to go to Court to finalize your adoption with your bchild, or did you just sign the papers in the hospital and that was it.....of course this pertains more to bmoms that relinquished at birth. You can reply here or private message me with your answer, when I have all of my info I will post why I need this information! Thanks to all of you!!!

Hi It depends on the state what you have to do.I live in iowa and i just had to sign papers at home (i got out of hospital before baby) they lawyers went to the court got more papers then after 72 hours of the baby being born i signed the final papers in the hospital. never had to go to court. some states you have to go to court. And i don't think i would have been abe to handle that

re: need help

i just signed the papers in the hospital; of course this was through an agency, i assume all the legal red tape was dealt with by the agency before the birth. i guess in a private adoption things might be different, but as for me i never had to go to court at all. ivy

I'm a little confused lol, for finalization on our end (termination of parental rights we had to go to cout) it was 2 ad a half months or so after we had placed her with her adoptive parents. For the finalization of the adoption on the adoptive parents end, we did not have to attend nor were we notified about it (they personally told us, but we were not notified by the agency or anthing)

I refused to sign them at the Hospital. When my Baby was two weeks old, I had to see her first then I signed the papers at the agency.

I signed the papers at the agency befroe and at the hospital. I had an adoption that streched across the counrty, we had to make sure the laws for MN and CA were both met.

I had to sign papers in the hospital that pretty much said I give permission for the a-parents to have my baby untill the court date, then I went to court and had to sign away all my rights.

paper signing

Ours (the BF and I) were signed at Catholic Charities 72 hours after Elizabeth's birth. The A-parents were thoughtful enough to have a letter and some pictures there for me when I did go in to sign the papers.
