Invited?
My boys and I have been invited to Owen's christening. I won't lie, I am a little nervous. I don't know any of the people at his aparents church and want to avoid odd questions. Would it be tacky if I asked his amom to let people know I don't want to be asked questions about why I put him up for adoption or where his father is? Going through this is hard enough without being berated with emotional questions.

From my experience, I'm guessing people won't ask you questions.
Really. Plus also rememeber that the focus is going to be on Owen and his aparents, they may not even know who you are? You could be a relative to those who are friends (well you are...) and a friend to those who are relatives. That's just my take on it though! I am from the closed adoption era. I recently met my son's adoptive family. They had a BBQ with 25 relatives, just because I was in town. Not a single person asked me why, or asked me about the birthfather. I wish you all the best! |
