Totally OT – “As seen on TV”

I’m curious about what products any one has tried that they’ve seen on TV?

I’ve never ordered anything primarily because after all of us kids moved out of the house my dad made it his hobby to order anything and everything he watched an infomercial about. We received lots of junk in our Christmas stockings over the years!

This morning I was in a bath and kitchen store picking up a new duvet cover and the “ped egg” caught my eye. I am months between pedi’s and my winter feet (12 hour days in 4 inch heals) are a mess. Disgusting calluses…cracked and gross, gross, gross. So I picked one up. WOW. You ought to see the disgusting amount of shavings! My feet are smooth as a baby’s butt.

I’m so excited I may just go out and buy the kit that rubs body hair away….

So has anyone else tried anything?

Oh, Paige, I'm so glad you told us about the Ped Egg! I've been dying to find out if they work or not. I've just added it to my shopping list for my next trip to town.

I watched the Today show recently and they did tests on a lot of the "new" products out there.

The "Touch and Bond" fabric glue was not that effective even after drying for an hour.

The "Sham Wow" towels were not as amazingly magically absorbent as shown and no one said "Wow"

I also know those sticker pads you put on the bottom of your feet that supposedly pull out all the toxins were studied and basically say save your money.

I do like the oxyclean and I've heard too the ped egg is a good product.

I went out to their website too and just cackled at some products they sell. The Bra Smart...cracked me up!

Heart

I have the ped egg too and I love it!

Another great one is Bare Minerals. I love love love their makeup. I get such great coverage using just a little. It's so light and I love not wearing any foundation.

I use all bare minerals! I forgot it was "as seen on TV". I started using bare minerals when I bought a starter kit at Sephora. I fell in love with the product. I have super oily skin...it's no longer an issue.

Has anyone tried the kit (can't remember the name) that buffs off body hair?

I thought I had posted last night - but, I don't see it!

My husband is a HUGE as seen on TV fan! I swear he makes up excuses to go to Walgreens just so he can cruise the aisle! He has bought the perfect push-up thingys, the lights that you tap on and off, and the light bulb that you can stick anywhere. He loves the push-up things, but the lights were all crap.

I have tried Bare Minerals, and loved the idea of it - but their colors were all too yellow based for me. I use the Avon version and love it. I also tried Philosophy skin care products, and am a total convert. Love it! I also use oxyclean for lots of stuff - laundry, upholstery, and it got rid of super nasty dog vomit on my carpet and bed (don't ask!).

Ok, now I might have to buy a ped egg. I hate my files because they make such a mess, but love how they make my feet feel.

5-30-2009 Kiddo turns five. It is hard to believe he is that old already, it seems like just yesterday he was being born. I was at peace for the first time on his birthday, what a nice feeling.
6-13&14 2009 A cannon live fire in Casper WY. We got third place and I got to see Devil's Tower for the first time, it was pretty awesome.

I don't know if it is "As Seen on TV" but I have the Sonic Scrubber. I was sceptical about it, but I really like it and use it often. It's especially good at getting baked-on food off my cookware.

I have been curious about the hair removal system. I've been waiting to hear how it is before I buy it, but I may just have to try it and see.

I have the ped egg. Only used it once. I wasn't that impressed with it, but I might have to try it again. I find I can get just as good a pedicure at home when I use a Mr. Pumice and then I slather on one of Lush's foot creams before putting on a pair of cotton socks over night. I also have Lush's volcano foot mask which is the BOMB.

Another Bare Minerals fan here, too!

I meant to ask if anyone has tried the pedi-paw? I am super curious!

I hate trimming our labs nails, and it is too hard to take her with the baby, so they get way too long before I go!

I've never bought anything from an infomercial, but my SIL is obsessed.

She has the Set It and Forget It rotisserie (which does rock, I must admit). She always gets the various slicers and dicers. She gets slippers from QVC. And she is obsessed with her "Snuggy" (is that what is sweeping the nation...you know, the blanket with arms? How can anyone survive without one?!).

DH and I were just cracking up at a new one we saw...and "upside down tomato planter"???

I hate feet, especially mine, so the thought of scraping them with a ped egg is making me a little queasy right now.

Ok. This is kinda out there, but have y'all seen the infomercial for the chop thingy? The one the Sham-wow guy sells?

There is one line in there that I cannot get out of my head. He's chopping and chopping and then he says, "You'll love my nuts!"

I think about it and I start laughing! I have that kind of sick sense of humor!

Buxton Bag

lol, I normally don't post much--been through the ringer with family emergencies and foster care stuff, but I had to post!

I got the Buxton bag for christmas--it's all I really wanted as far as "gifts".

ALthough it really does hold all of the stuff it claims (first thing I did with the bag was put 2 bottles of water in it and it even held my big bulky planner very well), the thing has already ripped in a couple of places AND it's turning red in a couple of spots and I'm not sure why.

Quality isn't really what I expected, but it works for me. Maybe I should just get one of those BIG bags for carrying all my stuff.

I live down the street from a Walgreens. Hubby and I both are drawn to the As Seen on TV aisle like moths to a light!

My mom got the pedi-paw for her dog (half whippet/half chihuahua) who hates going to the groomer and has been banned by a couple of places, tolerates it pretty good, considering. Now my mom wants to get one for her cat (who I get the joy of clipping claws whenever I go up to visit and get hisses and scratches instead of the cuddles and purring everyone else gets!). I'd get one for our 2 cats, but the youngest has had his claws handled from kittenhood and doesn't mind it. The other one gets wrapped in 2 blankets and gets about 1.5 claws done at a time over the course of a weekend.
